The Silence Corner

After so much silence I think it's pretty clear to everyone that new reviews will not come in a short time. I am too lazy and I lost pretty much all my inspiration. I will just continue writing some stuff for Flagello zine, but keeping a whole blog of reviews and inties now seems a bit too ambitious for me. It's much time I am not getting new records and, even if I get something, the chances of me thinking "Hey, I want to review this really badly" happened once or twice. And when happened I didn't review it either because I'm too lazy and mostly busy doing other stuff, like trying to study some bass and stuff like that.

An honorable mention goes to Od Vratot Nadolu's "Živa" released by Fuck Yoga. If you like to hear some pounding primitive stuff you definitely can't miss this one. It's a mutant beast of depression and thick sludge folded in abrasive paper. No guitar in here, so you know it's yummy. If you are still not craving for it, I'm sorry for you.

Another album that struck me is totally different from the abovementioned, is Broken Water's "Whet", released last year on Night People and now repressed on Perennial. Ethereal shoegazer with an acid twist. When I hear the innocent girl voice I really go crazy. It's psychedelic yet energic, like seeing fireworks underwater, if you get the idea. If not it means you're sane.

And now it's time for albums' and demos' submissions.

The first demo is by The Lärves, an harsh raw d-beat band from Finland. As you can guess from the cover Disclose is loved and worshipped. Really anguished vocals.

Now it's time for some Swiss grindcore. Sick Trip hails from Luzern and their breakdowns mixed with blasts are sure to please grindcore/powerviolence stoners. Neck breaking and weed stinking.

Absolutist, from the UK, hails with some metallic hardcore with a blackened crust touch. 4 tracks sure to please especially neocrust fans.

From the UK too, Sufferinfuck delivers a fucked up dose of raw uncompromising grindcore fastness. 10 tracks. Like being punched.

From Ireland here's Contort: a good dose of nuclear addiction and contempt for the authority. Soaked in beer and larsens.

From Ecuador, Gale. Thrashy crustcore flavoured with a strong punk feeling. Get their 2010 EP and other stuff from Pluteras recs.

***Blood I Bleed- Gods out of monsters CD, Selfmadegod, 2009First time I had the chance to see these guys was at Obscene Extreme 2008 but at that time I was too drunk and I don't real remember how their show was, all I remember is that I met one of them who gave me a badge and a sticker.
Then I recently got mail on my box and Rosco's kindly sent me 2 CDs to review. Thanks again!!!
So here we are with the 2nd full length CD "Gods out of monsters". These 4 dutch guys are born from the ashes of the mighty My Minds Mine (which if you don't know I suggest checking out). This CD is a full-throttle assault, 23 songs (with a Enemy Soil cover), not longer than a minute and half, that are sure to quench your thirst for ultracore. The CD opens with a killer tune ("Talk shit and spit blood") about the competition in crimes between USA and Europe, 16 seconds of pure blast. Most of the songs have breath-taking tempos and a good dose of distortion, bringing to mind Hellnation. Some tracks have some breaks but don't expects breaks longer than 20 seconds, peace won't last, it's time for destruction! Rosco's throat shreds insane high pitched shouts, while drums, bass and guitars take no prisoners in their insane fast "High-octane thrash". Lyrics are bitter criticisms of politics and society, there's a song about the so called cases of "music-driven suicide" ("Blame it on the boogy"): they got straight in the face and harsh lyrics, with lines like "It looks like MTV is like Animal Farm: where the biggest swine took over It looks like the lowest moral becomes the highest law" or "Europe talks shit and the U.S. are spitting blood A competition in who has the dirtiest hands".
Artwork is real cool with a drawing of a six armed 21st century "war god", and the inlay is filled with old pics of the band.
I've been such a fool for not buying this before, since it's a kick ass album that deserve at least a listen, and if you love Hellnation and such stuff you won't be disappointed!

***Blood I Bleed/Massgrav split CD, Selfmadegod, 2010
This is the second CD Rosco's sent me.
Blood I Bleed contribute on this split with 11 songs, which are fast as fuck, but have a less harsh feeling than the previous full-length. I don't mean to say that they're weak, just that the feeling that these bunch of songs give is less direct than the previous album. 3 of the songs were from My Minds Mine, and I suggest everyone to check out the song "Slow-motion apocalypse" for its killer breakdown and riff.
I first got to know Massgrav for their split with Widespread Bloodshed. This recording is the last one with their drummer Mattias, who had to quit for health problems, sorry to hear that!
Massgrav are from Sweden and on this split they got 12 tracks of hammering thrash. Being less straight to destruction than Blood I Bleed these guys are kind of "fast as fuck punk", they do have several influences and parts, like a d-beatish song ("Vägen till helvetet") and some punk rockfish riffs like in "Jag skitter väl i kampen", or some sing-along parts. Take punk, hardcore, thrash, d-beat and mix them together and you quite get the recipe. A frantic mix of fun and anger all in swedish language, intros included, so I can't tell what the lyrics are about.
I bet you're standing on a chair, and while reading this you're wondering if they're fast or brutal enough and if you're gonna get this one or not…well I think it's time to get it, don't you?

***Archagathus- Atrocious halitosis from nauseated disgorging CD, Power It Up, 2010
Seeing Archagathus, sharing the stage with them and other good friends was awesome. All this happened on the 2nd of July in Novara, and this CD was kindly given to me as a present from Dan. Thanks a ton, bro!
I first listened to Arcagathus from a split. I can't remember which one, but I think it was the one with Mesrine. I got impressed by these Canadians so I started to get more of their upcoming releases.
For those who don't know them, Archagathus are 4 guys from Winnipeg, Canada. This CD is their first full-length that came out after a long series of splits with a lot of cool bands (Death Toll 80K, SMG, Agathocles, Unholy Grave, Goner…), and it features 18 brand new tracks of "caveman" mincecore. Why caveman? Check out the guttural vocals, and don't tell me it's not like they're trying to catch some tyrannosaur back in the old days. Catchy riffs result in a row of neck-breaking songs where drums provide the right amount of blasts and mid tempos. They bring to mind old grindcore classics, with some hints of various influences, from punk to metal. Some songs even have short solos, and, despite some of you might think solos sucks, these fit perfectly well, adding a slight death metal influence to some songs.
The booklet has no lyrics for the songs, I wanted to know what the lyrics to such titles ("She grinds", "Grindcore holiday", "Intractable tarantula" or "Hair dresser") deal with. Front cover was done by Husni from SMG: crocodiles, skeletons, beers, Agathocles patches and a bong snorkel!
Their live performance was great and this CD confirm that you better stay tuned and check out the hellish fury unleashed!! Great!

***Archagathus/Goner "Raw grind whirlwind of doom" split tape, Don't Fear The Night, 2009
I bought this one because I was too curious to hear Goner, which I previously heard on "Illegal grinding" CD compilation.
Archagathus stuff was recorded by Dan himself in August '08. 6 songs of raw and crushing mincecore for the Canadian freak(s), with the second song, "Sad together" having an awesome hardcore punk outro riff. "Horrible disease", after a long series of blasts, has a slower part with a scream that could have been ripped off a sludge/doom song, and then starts blasting again, awesome! And don't forget the killer d-beat of "Untrustworthy physician". "Which kingdom?" sounds like an hardcore song played at 45 rpm! The songs are blasting and raw, the riffs are killer, having a primitive sound that makes them soooo great.
On the other side of the tape there's Goner, from California. Now they are 2, but on this June '08 recording only Alex was present. When guitar enters the first time in the song "Japanese title" you say to yourself: "Now, this is gonna be a blast". Fucking distortion and ultra blasting grindcore reminiscent of the Australian gods Warsore for its intensity and hatred. 9 songs of great grindcore: raw, distorted, fast and without trendy shit. "Ripped apart" is a shredding song, blasted as fuck. "Beyond unholy" is one of the best songs I've heard lately, it's simply awesome.
Shame on you if you don't already have this, this is fucking great no compromises grindcore from both bands. This is stuff that needs to be played super loud, don't miss it!

***Haemophagus- Slaves to the necromancer CD, Ignorant Worm, 2009
Hailing from Palermo, Sicilia, I met and saw Giorgio (guitar), David (drums) and Gas (bass) for the first time in Milano @ Dauntaun, opening for Tragedy. The place was crowded and, despite an evident dissimilarity with Tragedy and all the crusty sounds, they rocked it and they captured people's attention anyway. It was at the time of the first issue of Flagello zine, for which both me and David (together with other 10 music maniacs) write.
After a bunch of splits they came out with "Slaves to the necromancer", their first full length. I think Despise The Sun records re-issued it, but my copy is on David's record label. Speaking of the music here we got 14 tracks of the finest "And now the dead shall walk again and eat your flesh" crossover between old school death metal and grindcore. The atmosphere on this album brings to mind old school death metal classics of late 80s, with some different influences thrown in: "Red diabolical eyes" starts with a rock 'n roll riff developing in a fast assault, "Dead eater" is a slow and obscure track, "Goddess of malice" has a part with a punkish riff and the melancholic gloomy arpeggio in "Sunrise over fields of dust" is strongly reminiscent of doom metal. The whole graveyard atmosphere is completed by some intros taken from horror flicks. The obvious comparisons that come to mind while listening to this are Autopsy and Pungent Stench, because of the brand of filthy death metal they deliver, and the recording, despite being clear, does not make them sound polished at all. Lyrics, as you may expect, deals with death, dead bodies, decomposing fluids and all such horror fantasies from the crypt. Artwork job has been done by Marco Failla: not my all time favorite artwork, but surely a good one and surely better than a banal rotten.com picture.
Well, this album brings with itself a refreshing old school breeze from late 80s so why the fuck are you still reading and you're not listening to it right now?

***SMG- Peace kills tape, Pissart, 2010
This band is surely challenging Unholy Grave and Agathocles for the "Biggest discography ever" nomination on Guinness World Records. I first heard them on their split with Archagathus and from then on they put out a shitload of stuff, from tapes to vinyls. I wonder when a 80 CD discography box will come out!
SMG is Malaysian uncompromising hate-fuelled grindcore devastation. 3 guys, one aim: destroy music! First side of the tape, called "Side Grind" has 4 grindcore songs dealing with several themes, from Afghanistan war to Ebay collectors ("Killed by O.O.P."), with the second song ("Smashed (totally smashed version)") being an alternate mix with different Sloth inspired vocals with some heavy metal riffs thrown in it. The second side is called "Side Noise Grind", and was released as "89 track EP" on 7'' by Nuclear Worship records. Well, 4 minutes, 89 songs of classic Bbbllleeeaaauurrrggghhhhness, with titles like "Pig Champion R.I.P.", "Liquor store paranoia", a couple wishing the best things ever to Marty Dwyer (Jerk Off records), and "Still waiting to do split with Napalm Death". A sound that will be appealing to all bulldozers drivers and 7 Minutes Of Nausea fans, you'll also find pop music intermissions during some songs! Raw as fuck mince/noise-core with a muddy and filthy DIY recording.
The tape has a fucking awesome artwork by Randy, I love the drawing plus the collage styled inlay, plus the cover is printed on gold or red metallic paper, I never saw that before, and it's complete visual masturbation.
Mincing sure ain't easy but this pure chaos filth assault is cool as fuck!
Don't know how many copies of this were made, so get one before it's too late!

***Extortion- Demo 7'', Coffin Cut, 2010
Australian stuff is always kinda hard to get here, so a big thank you to Marco Zas for this one.
I heard so much praise of these guys that I kinda grew curious about them.
Extortion are a 4 piece band from Perth, Australia, formed in 2005, with some members from Heist.
Side A has 7 songs recorded on a 4 track in 2005, included a cover version for Black Flag "Fix me". Side B has 3 more songs from the previous recording and 2 recorded in a studio in 2009. The tracks recorded in 2005 are fast and angry they deliver some good raging hardcore outbursts followed by breaks and mid tempos, with a good dose of angry screams and stage jumps. Riffs are awesome and seems like they were written back in the days, but the recording makes the guitar a bit weak. The 2009 tracks ("Drawn & quartered" and "Lethal injection") have better quality and they got the right dose of distortion, delivering some killer riffs that spread a lethal dose of negativity "bitter about life in general" style. I think 2005 tracks to be "more hardcore oriented" and 2009 to be "more powerviolence oriented", if you get what I mean, but the Infest influence is constantly present in both recordings.
Artwork has been drawn by Rohan, the singer. This cover is pretty simple and the idea is good, but not as good as other drawings by him. Check his art out, it's worth a look!
This slab of wax is limited to 500 copies, includes a postcard and a sticker, and I'm sure it can't miss on your collection if you're already into them.

***Pathetic Human/Suffer split 7'', Nopatience, 2010
While surfing on the web I curiously started to browse all the Australian bands' Myspace profiles I found. Bryce from Pathetic Human was so kind to trade this with me.
Pathetic Human is from Melbourne, and this is their 2nd 7''. 6 songs that has been recorded somewhere in time, no information about this. Their sound can be compared to Heresy/Siege, that kind of grinding thrashcore, with some hysteric vocalist, fast parts/breakdowns, a good dose of rawness and a solo too!Their lyrics are about society/politics and there's an intro about a guy who's being jailed. The only bad thing about this one is the recording: backing vocals and vocals sometimes are too weak and the whole sound is a bit weak, it kinda sounds like a bad recorded demo tape.
On the other side there's Suffer, a 4 piece from Perth. Powerviolence is their game, and they got some cool breakdowns and shredding songs, reminding of Infest/Lack Of Interest with a hint of Crossed Out. The recording is better than on the other side, it's a DIY recording too, but the sound is abrasive and powerful.
I think that Pathetic Human, with a better recording, would sound a lot better. Anyway it's a good effort, the future will tell if these guys will improve their skills. As regard Suffer they put out an LP, which I hope I'll be able to get soon.
This was released in 500 copies, 100 of which are pink with violet cover. Keep an eye on these 2 bands!

***Habsyll/The Austrasian Goat split 7'', Co-production, 2010
I never heard these two bands before, so I decided to give this a spin.
Both bands are French and both play doom metal.
Habsyll is a trio from Toulouse, it was formed in 2006 and the drummer (Nicoblast) was also in Hypotalasias (grindcore band who shared a split 7'' with Denak). Their track, called "III", starts with a wicked scream and something similar to wind sampled on the background, but soon after this atmosphere is broken by pounding guitar and drums, slowly rotting while a kind of sick-whispered voice screams and the song develop in a chaotic fast outburst. Then the agony restarts, accompanied by some tortured screams and feedbacks, letting you trapped in a black mountain of sludge. One band that comes to mind hearing this is Khanate, but this has a kinda different atmosphere, resulting in something a bit less agonizing and claustrophobic.
The Austrasian Goat is a oneman-band from Metz. His track is called "Errare humanum est" and is a mixture of funeral doom with a hint of black metal in the guitar sound. Melancoholic melodies, gloomy atmospheres and blackened screams shape a sound that is different from the heavy assault of the previous side: this is less primitive, has melodic guitar parts and the atmosphere is less blackened and obscure. Lyrics are anti-human, with a line like "Humans are nature's feces". I can't tell which bands is similar to cuz I don't listen much of this stuff, anyway I must say that I found this track enjoyable: my previous funeral doom listening experiences hasn't lasted for more than one complete track, I get bored kinda quickly.
This 7'' comes in a cardboard sleeve and is limited to 350 copies.

***Deprogrammazione/Sposa In Alto Mare split 7'', Co-production, 2010
Got this one at the Fuck The Facts gig in Borgomanero, where I last met the guys from Deprogrammazione, while I last met Sica from Sposa In Alto Mare few days ago, cuz he organized the mighty Italian bus of ignorance to Obscene Extreme.
This is the last Deprogrammazione recording under this name, the singer went on with his project with the same name and the others changed the name to O.
Let's start here with Deprogrammazione, 4 guys from Biella, a town in Piemonte not so far from my parent's house. This is actually the first entire release I heard from them. This side has 3 songs: "Essere umano", "Milano per non esiste" and "Lion of zion". I would describe their sound as a mixture of some black metal (especially in the guitars), grindcore and hardcore elements, all blended together to create a sound that has melodies but also raging assaults. Tempos tend to varies and vocals alternate from screams to growls. The recording is clear but I think a less professional one would have made them sound rawer. Lyrics are hermetic and sometimes reminding of some old 80s italian hardcore bands.
Sposa In Alto Mare is a band from Padova, north-eastern Italy. 4 songs of plain demential grindcore with a brutal influence in breakdowns, but no solos and technical stuff, just funny titles and lyrics (don't miss the commentary on the songs in the inlay). My faves are "Rockabilly Gates" with some weird backing vocals and a beautiful outro and, soon after an intro featuring Lino Banfi, "Emanuele Filiberto di madre sicura ma di padre incerto". In this recording the drums kinda sound like a drum machine, but I can't find more infos anywhere. The cover has a weird artwork with a series of strange/deformed creatures on it.
This split is surely nothing groundbreaking, but if this is your cup of tea then it's a good album to get.

***Terror Firmer/Humus split 7'', Co-production, 2010
Finally a studio recording from Terror Firmer, I was waiting for it. I first saw them on their gig at September To Dismember vol.2 in Alessandria, and it was sooooo long ago!
Terror Firmer is a 5 piece band from Modena, sharing members with Repulsione, Cancer Spreading, Jesus Ain't In Poland, Ride Now Work Later and, if I remember well, Simone was in a grindcore band from Roma called Dogfight and actually plays in Bestial Vomit too. Fuck, only 6 songs on this split. No bullshit, no melodies or contaminations, this is straight in the face old school grinding thrashcore, including a furious fast "Starvation" cover. Harsh vocals, blastbeats and the right amount of filth, distortion, loudness, all accompanied by the awesome front cover by Nellino. Lyrics are mostly a condemnation of the trendy side of extreme music, with titles like "Genocide of the Tragedy clone bands", "Cripple Business" or "If you're grindcore, I'm not". Take Heresy, put them on a daily diet of Napalm Death's "Scum" and Siege's "Dropdead" and you get the result, fucking great stuff.
Humus is italian too, 5 guys from Ancona. I'd never heard them before or seen them live, so this is the first time I listen to their stuff, but I read on their myspace that they recently added a new guitarist. On this side they still had one guitar and they deliver 4 tracks of hyper fast political hardcore. Blasting drums, frenzy guitars, all dominated by Giordi's "Blind screams from the void" creating a powerful and devastating nuclear dose of fastness in the old manner. A band that comes to my mind listening to them is old Extreme Noise Terror blended with Mob 47's speed but less filth distortion. Lyrics deals with various topics, there's an anti heroin song "Gioventù Bruciata", or a song about pedophiles and people who put sex above all things in life, called "Bestia sessuale", and the other 2 songs are about politics "Politica" and the state in which we're kept in this society, "Davanti ai nostril occhi". Artwork features a medieval representation of a winged skeleton holding a book in his hands over a mass of people, I tend to love this stuff.
This split has been worth all the waiting, it's surely one of the best that came out this year, so you can't really miss these two italian bands. Thanks again to Gabri for trading with me this slab of wax!

*** VA- Lo-fi or die! Vol.1 compilation tape, Tearache, 2010
First release for the new born label Tearache records, which I heard is Semih's new label.
This tape strictly features 9 grindcore bands: only rehearsal or live recordings, so that's why is lo-fi.
The first band is the swiss band PxNxGx, that I never heard before. They got 4 songs with a muddy sound, insane high pitched vocals and a killer slow part on a song (could be the second one "Krieg dem kriege"). "Genocide" starts slowly but then develops in a fast one, with their part ending with a few seconds blast called "Disneyland & Auschwitz". The second band is Rust from Finland. They're new to my ears too but they deliver some fine grindcore heavily influenced by Rot/Agathocles (their logo is a Rot's logo ripoff), with a good dose of mid tempos alternating to faster ones. Their second song "Selfish needs" starts with a Shitlicker-ish riff that seems to have been taken off "Warsystem". I would like to hear more from these guys. Then it's Sakatat's turn on this comp. 5 songs including a S.O.B. cover of "Humanity of stupidity": expect nothing else but straight grindcore ferocity by these guys, with a hell of a "neck breacking" riff on their song "Tahammül Etmek Kabul Etmek Demek", fucking intense song. Then it's time for Italy's Terror Firmer: 3 songs of "Thrash against trash", quoting one of the songs on here (the other two being "Genocide of the Tragedy clone bands" and "Puking on your attitude"). Thrashing background noise accompanied by harsh screams/growls. Hell in a rehearsal room. Closing the first side of the comp there's the Swiss bulldozer Insomnia Isterica, with 3 songs of brutal grindcore with a strong metal touch and piggy vocals. I thought "Il grande silenzio" was going to be a Cripple Bastards cover, but it's not. The other 2 songs are "Entropia" and "Pile di umani cadaveri". Too bad the volume of their recording is too low.
The second side opens with Malaysia's (and not only) most prolific band, SMG. While I'm writing this they've probably put out like other 5 tapes, 1 7'' and few cd-rs! 3 songs including a medley of their songs and a Terrorizer cover: raw fucking grindcore, punch in your guts style. The tracks have different sounds and seem to have been recorded during different sessions, with the medley "Beating The Shadow+ Time Up-Super Censor+ Sci-fi Faith" being the harshest. Then it's turn of the American band Lt. Dan. Never heard of them before, so these 6 all in a-row tracks of blasting old school grindcore that sounds appealing to my ears, alternating mid and slower tempos to hysteric outbursts and titling songs like "Ruining punk", "Hipsters unite", "Grind is life", following the anti-musical Agarchy, will surely check more stuff out. Then it's time for SMG's countrymen Compulsion To Kill, delivering 3 tracks of brutal and hammering down-tuned grindcore with some metalish riffs, some fast and slow parts thrown in (but not the ultra abused breaks you always hear), a perfect example is the song "Anda mau", . Good stuff, too bad the vocals are too low and barely hearable, but they're worth checking out. Last but not least Brazil's Dispepsiaa, featuring Rot's members, with 5 songs of pure fury old school style, no compromises or modern bullshit, just a big pile of rawness and brutality like Warsore used to do! Titles are in portuguese like "Donos da verdade", "Esquecido", "Pessoas paranoicas" (check out the killer riff on it) and so on. Awesome stuff despite the quality is not excellent, can't wait to hear more! Their new split 7'' with Violent Gorge from Canada is out now on Bullshit Propaganda.
A delicious tape for all those who think grindcore must be raw as fuck. I love the artwork too, collage style rules!
But next time make all the recordings a bit louder!

***VA- War of the worlds compilation tape, Jerk Off & Lo-fi, 2009
Six bands from six different continents trying to destroy once and for all the word "music".
First band is Ecuador's finest Cacasonica, contributing with 9 songs of latin noisecore, and since the recording quality is poor (must be a live or a rehearsal), there's so much chaos when they start blasting. Always present are their killer hardcore parts on the songs, and their anthem "Melina me orina" is present here too. Not their best recording but good stuff. ToxDie are the second band on this comp, they're from Indonesia and they have 6 tracks on it. The intro kinda scared me cuz it was a real shitty cyber-grind track, but the other tracks are different, more grind/noise oriented with hysteric high shifted vocals and piggy growls, all accompanied by a wall of low frequencies, where you can sometimes hear a guitar. I couldn't really hear blasting drums. I wasn't impressed that much, but I think it's because of the recording quality. Last band for this side is USA's Dermatofibrosarcoma. Goregrind with one of the muddiest sounds ever heard. 6 songs taken from their second demo "Molested under anestesia". Too bad drums are always covered by noise.
As an intro of this side and between the bands there's a popular song from Naples, "O' sole mio".
The second side opens with New Zealand's Innard Splatter: two songs of brutal death/grind with insane piggy vocals. Slow moshing parts and exhibition of guitar playing skills. Not my cup of tea at all. Then it's turn of the Italians testosterone unit Bukkake Violence Kommando. Ultra harsh and noisy stuff recorded in a wheelie bin. No tracklist no titles, just harsh noisecore. A catastrophe to your ears! Then it's turn for Psybygore, from Morocco, 5 songs including a cover of "Eat yourself and throw up" by Cold Meat, of what I would call downtuned goregrind with strong death influences. Not much my cup of tea but good stuff.
On this side as an intro and a break to distinguish bands, another song from Naples, "Torna a Surriento" and "Iamme, Iamme Iamme".
Only for lo-fi noise freaks!

***Dažd- S/t CD, Fuck Yoga, 2009
If I remember well, I was first told of this band by Nebojsa (Atentat Na Sluh, Serbian noisecore), then I read they were compared to Amebix, so I decided to give them a chance.
Dažd are a trio from Beograd, Serbia. After some splits they released this full length, recorded in two days in November 2007. 9 songs for a total of 34 minutes, as written on the obi strip. The album opens with "Saturnday", an instrumental intro with a 70s sound reminding of Pentagram a lot, doomish/70s rock feeling, but then the album goes on keeping Amebix-esque gloomy atmospheres blended with first wave of black metal-like guitars and anguished screams. "The imperative of the end times" is a great example of gloomy atmospheres, with the final lines "And peace and liberty reign at last" repeated at the end of the song, without musical background, by two anguished voices. "The shackles are tightening" has a final blasted piece that is pure black metal, kinda reminding of old Mayhem with less reverb. "The butchers are still bloodthirsty" is pure Amebix worship, it could have been on "Monolith"."The nuclear wind" has a great crusty d-beat, really intense and raw and the last song, "Deep beneath the ground", starts with a keyboard and develops in a slower song, with a doom metal vibe and some cleaner suffering vocals. Songs are sung in Sprska (I think it's called like that, it means Serbian language), but there are translations on the booklet. They have a very evocative way of writing obscure and gloomy lyrics about this world, this life and hell.
Artwork has been drawn by Jason Barnett, who's done a beautiful job, with a raffiguration of a monstrous beast with a lot of eyes and creepy things. I love this drawing, it has a unique style.
Cold and dark atmospheres, a strong struggling sense towards life (that's what I feel about this album) and great and personal music. What else do you want more?

***Gorgonized Dorks/Sarlacc "Grind wars" split tape, Hair On My Food tapes, 2009
I took this because I was extremely curious about Sarlacc, and Gorgonized Dorks is a synonym for great noisecore.
Gorgonized Dorks, for those who still doesn't know them, is an experimental/noisecore duo from California. They're challenging SMG and Disleksick on the competition "Highest album per month average". On this one, there's a 15 minutes untitled track recorded in February '09. The sound of this track is filthy and there's a "cosmic explosion" sounding feedback on the background of the uncountable number of noisecore songs, with savage vocals and a good dose of fuzzy dirt. It has as well some more experimental parts with clean low-pitched vocals talking some Tatooine slang and keyboards too. Drum tempos varies from the classic noisecore blasts to some slower ones, like the drums accompanying the low pitched talking nonsense. This track surely doesn't lack of distortion and feedback, so you noise lover will love this side. As always (at least on the releases I heard) Gorgonized Dorks prove to be one of the best acts around, speaking of noisecore.
On the other side of the tape there's Sarlacc, a couple of Star War nerds hailing from Pittsburgh. 7 songs including a long intro for a fast, heavy and without bass version of Star Wars themed grind, including samples from various movies. The massive use of slower sludge-ish parts (a perfect example is the third track "Applied Human Carbon Freezing") continuously combined with faster ones, and harsh as fuck screams and growls describing how bad is pissing off Wookies when playing chess, makes this side really enjoyable and good. They have a raw sound, partly due to the quality of the recording, but the lacks of a bass player is noticeable, especially in slower parts, but they manage to sound heavy anyway. "Dune Sea Destruction Attack" is the best track, with a thrashing metal riff that makes Deathcore bands shit in their pants.
Fun drawings as artwork and inlay (on the GD's inlay there's a C1P8 holding a ghetto blaster).
Worth buying split tape if you ask me. I think it's sold out, but try to ask anyway.

***Napalm Death Is Dead/Penis Geyser split 7'', self-released, 2010
When I picked this up it was described to me as the best noisecore record of 2010, so you can imagine what I'm expecting to hear.
Napalm Death Is Dead were already notorious to my ears for their excellent quality noisecore. They are a duo (drums + bass) from Japan. This side, titled "Grind is over", begins with a slow march. Nice beginning, but when you begin to think "When are they gonna start the noise?" they start to deliver some insanely raw bass-driven noisecore, with the snare of the drum hitting the beginning of "songs" in the same way every time they change song, kinda reminding what The Gerogerigegegege did some years before, but with more variety. The amount of distortion is good enough to make you forget they don't have a guitar, add random hysteric screams and you got the deal. If Napalm Death is dead long live Napalm Death Is Dead!
Flip the side and there's Penis Geyser, from Ohio, USA. 3 guys delivering some harsh noisecore reminding of some Deche-Charge with a distortion so raw you can't almost distinguish screams from guitars and tons of short songs. The whole side has blasted short songs until, almost at the end of the recording, they slow down and start to play repeatedly an hypnotic riff that finishes in an explosion of distorted guitars, screams and drums. With a sound so harsh you gotta love them, this side reeks of fucked up amplifiers. They're the Disclose of noisecore.
The cover is printed on red paper and features the image of a guy without his head playing an accordion on a pile of debris, with a background similar to a city after WW2's bombardments. Thumbs up for it.
On the inlay, at the bottom of it, it's written "Instead of this record, listen to Rapt". Let me add: when you take a pause from listening to Rapt, play this fucking record, it slays, it's a perfect soundtrack to hysteria and insanity!

***Repulsione/Violent Headache split 7'', Co-production, 2010
Finally out, this was long awaited, as Violent Headache are veterans of the genre.
Repulsione, hailing from Bologna, Italy, with 3 songs of fast bass-driven powerviolence/grind. First song, "Fast communism" is about revising communism under a modern optic, because it's getting kinda old, with a rather fun view of it. The song starts with a mid paced tempo, changing rapidly in a faster one, accompanied by a grinding distorted bass. The second song is "Peristalsi urbana"(Urban peristalsis), it's a song about Bologna and the changes that were made by the major lately, adding more police in the streets, forbidding a lot of things and closing squats. It's a fast song, alternating a "hardcore" like part to a blasted one. Closing their side a cover version of Siege's classic "Conform", done a bit faster. The only problem of this side is that the bass sound lacks of "power", it doesn't create a powerful sound as on their debut CD. It's a pity because the songs are real good!
On the other side there's Spanish grindcore veterans Violent Headache (there's no need for presentations!), delivering 10 tracks of intensity, brutality and full impact grindcore, intended to be released as a split with Malaysian grinders SMG and it's been released after 4 years later, in fact the recording was made in November 2006. The guitar/bass shred some crusty flavored riffs, drums are way fast and Dani's throat, with his screams and growls in spanish. "Odio", a song about backstabbers, has a great & catchy riff in pure grindcore style, "Bush; the bastard (PT.2)/Childcide" (the only song with lyrics in english) has a chorus sung with clean vocals, true hardcore style! Some slower parts can be heard in "Maldita sea tu estampa" which is a fucking intense song, while "Too fat to grind", a second long song, closes their side, leaving my ears preys of old time grindcore nostalgia.
Repulsione's cover has got a fun pic, with Lenin and Mao riding a chopper and a bike, while Violent Headache has a political cover with dead children and all that crusty stuff.
Get it fast, 4 years in the making were worth waiting so long!

***Gas Chamber S/t 12'', Warm Bath, 2010
Got this off Ivan's label Fuck Yoga. Described by him as the best hardcore record he got, I decided to give it a try.
Gas Chamber is a 4 piece from Buffalo, NY, formed in 2007. Quoting their blog: "“Gas Chamber” is a reference to the technology of violence, and the twentieth century man’s exponentially increased capacity to do harm to human life, yet with even less accountability than we have today.". This LP contains the remastered recording from the previously issued demo. On this LP appears 10 songs plus some experimental noise intros. Right after a short noise intro, the first track "Price for greatness", blasts in, leaving you dazed and confused by its huge impact. There's no place to take a breath as "Spelling backwards" kicks in immediately. The third song, "Return to shape", starts with a slower part, that soon develops in a blast with a kickass bass riff. "Childhood's end" punch you in the face with its short length and "Strontium", with that beautiful bass line, leaves you with a bitter taste in your mouth. Side B starts with "The nineteenth hole", a fast and rageful song that sounds "American hardcore" because it brings to mind the typical american sound of the 80s, followed by a cyber/noise interference, that opens "Experiment on direction", a song with a riff strongly reminiscent of English bands, that suddenly has a d-beat break with a killer riff. "Comfort food" has a jazzy and dark outro, really good and appropriate to take a break from the sonic assault. "Last of the dogs" begins with a thrashing riff and it's a fucking intense song, while the last "Drug induced coma", starts with an intro with what seems to be a robotic voice speaking above a spooky atmosphere pad and introducing the beautiful and dark arpeggio that opens Gas Chamber's last assault. Musically speaking the whole LP is fucking great: the sound is reminiscent of late 80s English hardcore bands such as Electro Hippies/Intense Degree/Atavistic with the intensity of No Comment, mixed with a guitar sound that is similar, but less flangered, to Italy's Underage, a prominent bass sound with melodic and powerful bass lines accompanied by thrashing drums and desperate vocals. A lot of different influences can be heard but the result is really personal and original. The atmosphere of this LP brings to my mind Roarschach's finest "Remain sedate": darkness, anguish and anger. Lyrics are really hermetic and bitter, being a criticism of humanity but in a personal way, also dealing with the animal side of human beings and the relationship with the technocracy we're living in.
The artwork is minimalistic and the cover features a picture of an owl on a background of several stains.
Quoting one of their lyrics "People should not embrace all that is new", but if you don't "embrace" this one then you're missing the best hardcore record that is around lately, and I'm pretty sure it has all the features to become a cult release.

***Quattro Stagioni S/t 12'', RSR & Six Two Five, 2010
After a long time here's the long awaited final LP for these German frantic.
I first heard their 7'' on 625: a great piece of grinding powerviolence. One of the best of its kind for its intensity and brutality. The final (sadly) LP features 12 songs, some in english, some in German. Continues tempo changes and the ultra fast parts combined with the catchy riffs & breakdowns and the variety of the vocals (they got 3 different voices) make these guys sound so brutal. The side opens with a noise intro and then starts a fast as fuck assault with insane fast drumming and some of the most amazing high-pitched screams ever, bringing to mind Lycanthrophy's female vocalist. Moshing floor breaking parts alternate to fast as fuck assault, but there's no time to take a breath cuz the full blown assault is going on and you gotta succumb to it. Side B starts with "Harmlogiskeit eider abstrakten Kategorie", a fucking intense song, with its insane speed and goes on at full throttle with its repenting changes of speed and riffs. A lot of different influences can be heard, but the main ingredients are some Hellnation like ultracore, some Spazz united to grindcore and moshing tough hardcore/metal slowdowns like Earth Chrisis and such stuff. In side B there's also a trippy part with backward samples of various voices.
Artwork is kinda strange and unique, it could have been on a screamo LP with some strange images like a face of a human or an ape, a skull and other trippy stuff. Weird.
If you don't know them yet it's not too late to check them out, you don't know what you're missing.

***Mesrine/Spermbloodshit split 7'', NFL, 2010
Niels is one of my favorite noise dealers, it's been years I've been buying stuff off him, and his label last released this one. How could I miss it, it's got Mesrine!
If you need more infos on these Canadian sickos, check the interview I made with Dan quite some time ago. On this side they have 6 brand new songs recorded in October 2009 in their rehearsal room. From the hardcore-ish bass line that opens their side in "George Vera" you hear how raw this recording is, and you gotta love it because it gives it a totally different sound and power it won't have if recorded with a polished recording. Some tracks have a superimposition of 2 different voices bringing to mind the old masters Dahmer, as in "Houdini bullshit" or "Shortest life". The title track, "Found guilty" is also an awesome song with a brutal as fuck riff. Fucking ace, raw murderer grindcore, fast and brutal and with some hardcore elements too and that's what makes them so amazing. Mesrine is guaranteed to fulfill any grindcore needs.
Spermbloodshit is a duo hailing from Lanciano, Italy, and was born from the ashes of Bestial Devastation, grindcore with a strong death vibe. In fact the sound remains the same, with death metal elements mixed with grindcore and some vocals strongly reminiscent of Righteous Pigs alternate to piggy grunts, all above a solid base of raw distorted death metal riffs that will surely appeal any death/grind fan who's not into trendy modern stuff. The 3 songs, "Chickenlover", "Fat camp" and "Spontaneous combustion" have funny lyrics, and seems that these topics have been took from South Park's episodes.
As regard art I fucking love the obi strip that came with the EP, it's printed on a hypnotic green paper, from which I can't took my eyes off. Spermbloodshit has a fun drawing with a putrid pile of zombies.
If you needed a prove that Mesrine is fucking awesome, this EP is what you need. Spermbloodshit is also cool stuff, you will love their old school death metal vibe. Limited to 210 copies, you got to get one!

*** VA- 12 way noise split tape, Sludgesicle, 2009
It's been a long time I wanted to review something Sludgesicle put out, so here it is!
This split has got the best noisecore bands around on it. With names like that you're more likely to put out a great tape.
The first band is the mighty Seven Minutes Of Nausea, for whom I won't make any presentation. With a brand new recording session done in June 2009 and titled "How eng is stupidity?". A lot of songs for a sloppy and distorted noise assault with a strange throaty voice speaking on the improvised tunes made by bass, guitar and drums. Not their best stuff, in my opinion. The second band is Canadian Deche-Charge delivering 167 songs (all titled with the most random and nonsense titles ever) of bass-driven noisecore fun recorded June 2008, with the help of the fellow spectators La Taupe & Les Lunettes. An avalanche of songs with a good dose of laughters, noise and good riffs. Cool stuff as always. Then it's CSMD's turn. They contribute with a bunch of songs mixing sci-fi themes and atmospheres with the most furious noisecore: take a song like 45 Grave's "Surf bat" and mix it to noisecore and you quite get it. Time to take your surfboard and get ready to take off to Uranus, fucking APE! Then there's Gorgonized Dorks, delivering a short untitled track that is sure to freak you out with the monstrous black hole noise and the triply theremin that seems like it's been taken of a Nintendo game, awesome!. Soon after a hilarious intro opens Bestial Vomit's part, with fun titles like "Impaled Borghezio", "Democrazia coprofagia" and "Pretonzolo infamaccio (servo di cristo)", they deliver 3 tracks of full distorted and lo-fi grind/noise, with a slow part alternating to noisecore ones in "Democrazia coprofagia", while the others have more grindcore-fast oriented tempos. Seems to be a live recording but not sure about it, good and enjoyable stuff though. Closing the first side there's Norway's TxQxB. It's the first time I got to hear them, I heard them to be real good. With a track called "Psychotic rampage". Cool noisecore, a lot of reverb/echo on this recording, it's noisecore made by the ancient of the fjords! A lot of songs and some hypnotic repeated riffs, real good stuff!
Side B opens with German duo Hohenkontrolle (unknown to my ears), with a recording done in July 2009. A track, called "Untitled flight (cancelled)", made only with guitar/bass + effects. Kinda drone/noise with some sounds that seems to have been sampled from a factory, and a repeated syren-like sound. Then 3 tracks ("In chains", a Fear Of God cover "World under my fingernail" & "Rape your sister") recorded live in 2009 from Slovenia's veterans Extreme Smoke 57, that seems to be back with their old school ripping grindcore after quite some time. A good quality for a live record, as their shredding guitars, blasting drums and growls are all hearable in their mixture of slow tempos alternated to faster assaults. Hope we'll hear more from them. Then it's time for another band I've never heard of: Ihavenoclue?. A duo with guitar/bass delivering 4 songs of pissed off garbage noise. The first song, "Workday slaughter", has strange speaking vocals on it, like if they were reciting something. The "untitled instrumental" has a bass riff repeated for the whole song while a guitar makes some hellish noise on it. Morality Declined is from USA. 43 tracks of undistinguished noise with titles too. I don't really know what to say more, as it's a wall of noise repeated 43 times for short periods, kinda real no-fi noisecore. Then it's time for Ohio's Rectal Twat delivering 107 untitled tracks of noisecore with harsh vocals and chaotic guitars and a metallic sounding snare. Harsh and brutal, good stuff. Closing the side there's Crevez with its monstrous distorted harsh noise wall accompanied by casual " noisy whistles" upon it, called "Crevez organ rouillé and cerveau désintégre". Cool stuff, it kinda gives the idea of a disintegrated brain.
The cover, which wraps the whole tape, is printed on beautiful blue paper (don't know if there are other colours) with a lot of hand-drawn drawings in the typical Sludgesicle style, so kinda cool and igno stuff!
An orgy of distortion, feedback and fun you better own! Limited to 222 copies.

***Social Chaos/Primordial Sounds split 7'', Amber & Meziprostor, 2010
I first got to know Social Chaos this year at Obscene Extreme Festival, as their performance was totally rad.
Social Chaos is a trio from São Paulo, Brazil. They started in 2001, and Pudol, the guitarist was in Rot, mighty grindcore band. Their side, which features 4 tracks, opens with "Desgraça", an aggressive crust/grind song whose Disrupt-ish riff is fucking awesome. The second song "Depois do fin o começo" is basically a grind song with some great hardcore riffs thrown in. The next songs "Heranca maldita" and "Lucros sujos" have mostly hardcore drumming, but the riffs have a slight metal influence, and "Lucros sujos" features solos too. The guttural growls alternate to screams and the drums are mostly fast, I can say no breakdowns are present here. I was impressed by their live performance, and I am impressed as well by these tracks, that shows how this band manage to have a sound reminiscent of the old school classics, blending punk influences with metal into some great crust/grind. Lyrics are in portuguese and deals with political themes such as corruption, racism & prejudice, the illusion of progress and animal exploitation.
On the other side there's Primordial Sounds, a coalition for musical destruction hailing from Belgium and active since September 2009. 4 tracks on this side as well, but this time it's some raw, sloppy no bass noisegrind. The first song "It's lame to have no title" is a sort of long song, that alternates a slow "musical" (musical in the sense that you can distinguish that a riff is being played on the guitar) part with faster chaotic parts of pure noisecore. The second song is a messed up cover of Agathocles' "Pigslaughter". Third song is a typical noisecore track with 30 tracks being played in a minute, reminding what Deche-Charge has done and still does, cool song overall. Last track, called "Piss/shit/wank/blablablabla" is another noisecore outburst but this time songs are a bit longer. Drums have a kind of "tiny" sound, it's seems like they're hitting beer cans, pots, cardboard or even beating the rhythm on a table. Their name fits perfectly in describing how their sound is, primordial noisecore, with a fuck off attitude. A quote from the inlay "This side of the 7'' has nothing to do with music at all!!!It's not about the music of the popularity that makes the band, but the ideas behind it. And this piece of noise is dedicated to all the record companies, "so called bigger bands", bigger festivals, reviewers of this side of the record it's a simple FUCK YOU!!!" (Ahahaha thank you guys!).

A great record if you love old school, as both bands demonstrate real attitude and the sounds are…Primordial! Get it!

***Apartment 213/Nothing Is Over split 7'', Give Praise & Sit & Spin records, 2010
Got this as I was curious to check out Apartment 213's latest release.
From Cleveland, these 4 long active guys, who also shared a split with the mighty Dahmer, and put out their classic "Vacancy" EP. 4 Tracks on this side. The first "Creepy" starts with a mid paced and gloomy track, that could have been ripped off of a horror movie soundtrack and a noisy part over the track as a voice. The second song, "Apply your make-up", is a classical powerviolence song, with faster parts alternating to a pounding heavy riff. "Blush" and "Gross sexual imposition" have kind of metal influenced-riffs and tempos, it's like Infest going metal, with Spazz reminiscent vocals on it. This side seems focused on mid tempos instead than faster. Quality stuff, but not their best I must say.
Never heard Nothing Is Over before, they're a trio from Pennsylvania. 7 tracks, all in a row, of furious heavily Spazz-influenced powerviolence. Fast as fuck and intense stuff, with a lot of breakdowns and tempo changes and 3 different voices, one being high-pitched and pretty harsh. Not much metal in here, just some solos here and there, and some pounding mid-paced riffs. I know I hadn't say much, but if you're familiar with Spazz then you quite get their recipe.
Artwork is good, with a guy drilling his head, but infos are really minimal. Can't tell what lyrics are about, if there are any.
I expected something better, but this record isn't surely "bad", the stuff on it is cool, and surely appealing to most powerviolent fans.

***2 Minuta Dreka/Oxidised Razor split CD, Grind Block & Diablos, 2010
This split was made in February when 2 Minuta Dreka went to tour Mexico. They told me that tour was a pure blast.
The CD opens with an intro with a satanic rite and then, after another intro there's the first song, "Viagra overdose", starting with a blasting ultra low-tuned riff and pitch-shifted vocals together with screams, suddenly slowing down the tempo with some mid-tempos. The second song "Autopsy for pleasure", has another intro, a fast drum part follows, but soon after some death-ish riff enters and mid tempos begin. "Matters of genital deformities" follows, and this time the start is not as fast as the previous tracks, it starts with a headbanging riff, but then it fastens and has also some blastbeats, all flavored by Brandy's high pitched screams and gurgles. Last song was recorded live in Slovenia, and it's their classic "Speedball sperm", and it was included on their split with Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium. Good quality recording on this one. I think that on this recording guitars sometimes sound weak and they can't be well heard. But if you like Gut/Rompeprop you won't be disappointed, they've also introduced some new elements, like death influenced riffs and lyrics.
The second part of the CD has 4 Oxidised Razor tracks delivering some blood soaked Carcass worship, with a really raw and distorted sound. Their first song, "Grindhouse", starts with a mid tempo and some insane guttural vocals, and then it starts blasting, and the vocals are real harsh sometimes. The second song, "Horror porn: a bloody success" is a good grindcore assault, having fast tempos going on for the whole song. Then "Torture and degradation" starts: a slow tempo enters while a shredding riff accompanies it, and develops in a chaotic grind blast, with Jhony's vocals being harsh as fuck. The last song is called "Deseo insatiable por cadaveres" and opens with an hilarious mexican song. Great death-ish riff, bringing to mind the old Carcass' classics. Take Carcass and add some rawness and distortion, and you quite get the recipe for this Mexican gore-galore. Tastes so good.
Artwork features the usual quantity of gore/splatter sickness, hentais and a page of pictures of the bands together.

Yeh, it's been a long time since the last post. Despite all promises I made. Never trust a Musicholic.
I've been doing other things, so that's why the 24 hours limit put a word "stop" to my reviews & inties. Plus I've been listening to a lot of different stuff. From blues, to Joy Division, jazz and some psychedelic/prog rock & some reggae. That's why I didn't have much to write about.
And that's one of the questions regarding this blog: I don't know whether to open it to other genres or to let it "extreme" centered.
It's not because of a shifts of musical tastes, but more because I always wrote about the music I felt writing about would be interesting. So why not insert other kinds too?
So I think I might add my personal reccomendations of stuff I like, no matter what genre it is, passing from Pink Floyd to Jethro Tull to Black Sabbath to Dr.Know.
So more like a Chaotic Corner, than a Noisy one.

***H.R.A.- Self titled demo CD-R, self released, 2009
Well, got the first exposure to this band thanks to Myspace. I discovered them because they share a member (Francisco, who was so kind to e-mail me this demo) with Hypo-Christians. They're from Texas, USA.
H.R.A. is an achronym for Heavy Roach Activity.
The band is growing and I can see they're pretty busy with live dates in the USA, and they've had some lineup changes. In this demo Francisco does all the instrumental work (bass, guitar and drums) and Robert Mena is doing the throat and artwork job. Now they added a drummer (Andy Chaos) and a bass player too (Billy Hinkle).
Back to the Demo, this one has 15 pieces of fast and ripping thrashcore, including a Septic Death's (Negative threat) cover. Influenced by the mighty old school gods, such as Septic Death, D.R.I., Negative Approach and the list can go on, these guys deliver us a fresh and raw wind of that sound that charachterized the 80s. The recording has a lovely DIY feeling that gives this a fucking awesome sound. The bass sounds like it was sampled off D.R.I.'s first LP, while the guitar results in something raw and distorted reminding of Heresy, with that fast, ripping riffs that chop your ears off, while the drums sometimes start some cool mid-tempos so you can realize you're totally being blown away. Vocals do their good angry job, though I didn't have the chance to read their lyrics. The tracks I liked more are: "Myself I hate", "I don't wanna work", "Kill Yerself", "The Racist" (the longest track on here) and "Bruise For a Bruise".
If you are looking for a dirty and rotten recording because you think you're heretic and septic, then this is a must for you. 15 tracks that will fulfill your 80s flavoured thrashcore needs.

***Fleischwald/Insomnia Isterica/Behind The Mirror 3 way split pro CD-R, Grind Ambush & L'é Tütt Folklor, 2008 (?)
Attila sent me this cd-r along with a tons of others as a gift. So thanks again mistah Attila.
Now that I'm writing this Insomnia Isterica has already out a split 7'' EP with Compost (see demo review here).
The first band that appears on this cd-r (that is limited to 200 copies) is Fleischwald from Bolzano, Italy. It's a one-man band and I've never heard it before I got this.
On this cd he participates with 24 tracks of fast and sharp sounding straight to the point grindcore with some death metal hints. I usually don't like drum machines, but this one is well arrange, but it still has all the limits that a drum machine involves. If you like old school grindcore with lyrics about politics and war you won't dislike him, so give Fleischwald a try.
The second band on this cd is Insomnia Isterica from the depths of the Swiss' Canton Ticino. 5 guys playing groovy grindcore. Kind of a vibro grindcore mutants kommando, as their intro suggests. 7 tracks of grindcore that sounds groovy because of the slower parts and the bass riffs that reminds of gore/porn grind bands, while the piggy vocals and some guitar riffs are more brutal death oriented. "Ce l'hai il vibro?" is more like a teenage punk song with an intro by Laura Panerai, and the last song "Soci ad merda" is a cover of Asfissia. Good effort, though their next EP is better, be sure to check them out.
The third and last band is Behind The Mirror, from Canton Ticino too, they share a member with Insomnia Isterica.
I've never heard of them before and I would describe their 4 tracks as a mixture of late 90s hardcore with deathcore. I honestly never listened to this stuff, so I don't know what to write about it, except that I don't like it. They use an outro from the movie "The Crow".

***Sexterminator 69- Purity in death CD-R, No Tomorrow Records 2010
This is the harsh noise project of Andrea, Bukkake Violence Kommando's drummer.
He once told me he wanted to do some harsh noise and here he is. I am not at all an harsh noise maniac, so I will try to make a decent review of it.
This CD features 4 tracks, with titles about depression and psychic problems.
First track "Disturbo notturno" (Nocturnal disturb) is an 8 minute long dark and hellish wall of noise. The crackles in this song make me feel like I've been stuck somewhere in a filthy and narrow bathroom, in a delirious night in which you have fevers.
Next one "Degenerazione psicofisica" (Psycho-physical degeneration) has a little bit of space in it, in the sense it's not as "narrow" as the previous one. A wall of noise and several crackles with a constant low frequency running for like 31 minutes and degenerating in fiercer and harsher parts and with some low frequencies bumping out to strangle your guts. I guess it's a perfect soundtrack if you want to bang your head against a wall till your brains comes out from your ears.
"Autolesionismo giornaliero" (Daily Self-harm) seems like a freak accident with jack cable that refuses to work properly while "Rassegnazione E Lutto Interiore / Public Suicide" (Resignation and inner death) has fiercer assaults on a solid wall of distortion, and here the distortion seems to have grown even worse than at the beginning of this listen.
Certainly not an easy listen, but if you are in mood for psychic destruction, use this weapon.

***Loser Life- Euro tour 7'', Yellow Dog & Thrashbastard, 2008
This is one of the "releases you buy without knowing what you're buying".
I got it because I was kinda attracted by the cover, so I got it.
The guy who sold it to me was really generic when I asked him how it sounds. He said "It's an hardcore band". I didn't know it was a tour 7'' and that it's limited to 400 black vinyl copies and 100 red ones.
This 7'' contains just 2 songs "Burning fields" and "Hard to please".
I expected something fast and kinda crustish (because of the cover), while listening to this the guitars have melodic riffs, and the drums are not blasting. Songs tend to be slower hardcore, but they're focused on an emotional impact, sounding like a re-adaptation of the masterpiece "Everything falls apart" by Hüsker Dü, with some 90s hardcore influences too. Lyrics are about personal feelings and matters.
I haven't heard other stuff yet, but these 2 songs are good, so why not check out more stuff?

***Bangsat/Dehumanized Earth split 7'', Rotten To The Core, 2009
I long knew Dehumanized Earth for their split with Canadian crusters Global Holocaust, so I was kinda surprised when I saw they put out something new after quite some years, while Bangsat were already known for their split with Archagathus. This EP is limited to 550 copies, as stated in the inlay.
Bangsat are a trio from Jakarta, Indonesia. 4 tracks of death metal influenced crustgrind (there's a cover of Hellbastard's "Heading for internal darkness"). Downtuned guitars with metalish sound but punk riffs, pounding drums with the massive use of double bass and mid tempos, and guttural low vocals (which sometimes alternate with some high pitched screams) seems to be the other main ingredients of their sound. Song lyrics are all about socio-political problems. A solid side even though I can't say they are my favorite band.
Dehumanized Earth from Canada deliver 4 tracks of crust (including a State Of Fear's "Violation" cover). The recipe is the same of a lot of crust bands: mid tempos, discharge-like riffs, but this band has a real guttural voice over it (kida reminds Mesrine) and some real short melodic guitar parts. The recording is quite good, too bad drums are a bit too loud. Can't say anything about their lyrics (if they have).
Surely not a masterpiece, but these 2 bands show they can provide a good dose of brutality and energy.

***xBräiniax- Hail fastcore CD, To Live A Lie & 625 Thrash, 2009
Do they need an introduction? For those who missed them (where the fuck have you been?) these 4 guys are from Michigan,USA.
I've been expecting this discography CD since I only own their split 7'' with Su19b and No Comply. I felt that I was missing some incredible powerviolence so I got this one as soon as it came out. I wasn't wrong.
99 tracks for a schizophrenic massacre of your ears. Why schizophrenic? Listen to the continuous and rapid tempos change mixed with killer saw-sounding guitar riffs and a killer screaming throat, you'll turn crazy and feel like you've just been punched in the guts and then suddenly slapped on your face for 98 times (because the last track is a messy compilation of lo-fi recordings and joke songs). They kinda bring to my mind a mixture of No Comment and Charles Bronson perfectly blended together. The CD begins with their latest stuff (split 7" with Su19b) and goes back to the first stuff like "Lightspeed demo". It also includes their killer "Disgrace to the corpse of Eric Woods" 7", tracks from some compilations, such as a cover of "You Suffer" featured on a Napalm Death tribute, as well as 2 unreleased tracks, and No Comment ("Hacked to chunks"), Infest ("Mindless"), Lack Of Interest ("My life") and a Y ("Blank mitt") covers plus the recording of their first live show ever.
Too bad the booklet hasn't the lyrics to the songs, from what I read it seems like the lyrics are ironic and sarcastic criticisms on life and various aspects of it. The syringe pentacle graphic is fucking sick, thumbs up for it.
I can't wait to hear their new LP coming out on 625.
If you think powerviolence is a dead genre and you love the classics, then pick this up, you'll be hit by a refreshing breeze!

***Boxed In- 2001-2005 CD, Co-production, 2005
Bought this cd 2nd hand for like 3€ in a shop in the city where I study.
I never expected to find something like that, so I picked it up with a happy feeling.
These guys are from England, and shared a member with the (should be) well known crust band Doom. I don't know many infos about them, the booklet wasn't helpful this time, all the infos I found are from discogs.com.
This CD contains all their recordings from 2001 to 2005, so you'll find the LP and the first 3 EPs on it plus 2 songs from compilations. 4 cover songs are present too: "Battlefields" by Iconoclast, "Children of love" by Kafka Prosess, "Ei/Oikeus valita" by Mellakka, "When the innocent die" by Anti-Cimex and "The blood runs red" by Discharge.
Raw guitars with a basic and crustish riffing, and full-throttle drum tempos and abrasive vocals they deliver 37 tracks (the longest is 1:58 minutes) of scandischargian hardcore that are sure to please your needs. The recordings were made at 1in12 Studio by Bri Doom. The CD comes with a nice booklet with all the lyrics to the songs and short commentaries to the lyrics. Lyrics are most of the times about this sick world we live in.
This CD is surely nothing groundbreaking but comes from a great band that is mostly unknown. Can't find any link to the band or the labels, but I see it's pretty easy to find.

*** Om- God is good CD, Drag City, 2009
Bought this one when I saw them live in Milano, in January.
After such a performance (with Lichens playing with them too), I thought they deserve a review at least. Seeing them live is a really cool experience, and the volumes were not even loud!
This album introduces some new features in Om's sound, since the introduction of different musical instruments and percussions by Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe AKA Lichens. The 19 minutes long and epic Thebes opens the album. A synthesized sitar starts and then the groovy and 70 flavored bass lines by Cisneros start to grip your mind bringing you to a peaceful and kinda trippy voyage into the Greek polis. There's a cool part in which a ethnic string instrument appears, giving it something Oriental in its sound. And then comes the "hard" part, with a bass that start to pump a catchy riff that keeps your head floating. New drummer, Emil Amos, stands well in comparison with the old one, Haikus, making the departure of the ex-Sleep not a problem at all, with his slow tempos. The voice is as always mantra-like, and sometimes seems like it's almost whispered. Then you have "Meditation is the practice of death", trippy arabesque bass lines, and in the middle of this song a guitar too, even if I can't find this credited anywhere, and a beautiful and relaxing flute part. The other two songs "Cremation ghat I & II" close the album. The first one is fast and starts with a funky flavored bass riff, accompanied by a guitar part, and the ultra high-pitched vocals of Lichens remind of some Indian music, or a call to a prayer, and the prayer begins at the beginning of the second part, with a sitar and tambour part opening it while Cisneros provides a slower and meditative riff, and then violin and sitar create a part that makes you trip to the highest mountains of Hindu Kush, or looking for some buddhist monastery in the middle of Himalayas.
I liked this album very much, Om skills are developing in a Far Eastern melting with some stoner elements, and meditative feeling this album gives is interesting too. If you want to spend half an hour tripping all you have to do is: smoke, play it, find some pics of India, Himalaya, or such places and watch them as they go along with the music. You'll be At Giza.

It's been a fucking long time since I last posted here.
I've been through a hell of a difficult period and right now things seems to be a little bit more stable. You know, got problems with university, flatmates, and a bit of health.
I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE TO ALL THE PEOPLE I PROMISED A REVIEW TO, I'LL DO IT BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR, SORRY AGAIN.

Since I've been reviewing tapes/vinyls more, I didn't want to let cds out of my blog, so here's a CD special, only cd reviews this time!

***Super Fun Happy Slide- The undislodgable nugget scenario, Bizarre Leprous 2009
I first heard the name on a forum I used to go years ago. One of them posted a link to their myspace and/or some tracks to hear, I don't remember now. I always wanted to trade with them their demo cd-r but since it was a difficult period in my life...you know how these things go, so I was still curious about them, when I saw that Roman's label, Bizarre Leprous, released them.
Super Fun Happy Slide are an Australian band from Melbourne. Australia has been known lately for many great bands like Extortion, Captain Cleanoff, Roskopp and yeah, Super Fun Happy Slide. I include them because after listening to this cd you'll agree with me that this is one of the best bands around nowadays. 19 tracks of old school grindgore madness, including a Napalm Death cover of "Retreat to nowhere". If you want something rotten, sick and fast this is for you. Fast and brain melting as the mighty Last Days Of Humanity of the "Hymns of the indigestible suppuration" era, but with a rawer "I recorded this in a toilet" sound, and some Carcass/Repulsion touches in it, and some thrashing mad solos blended in it. Even if you might think thrashing solos won't fit, believe me, they do. They actually make me think of Carcass/Repulsion. Downtuned fuzzy guitars, hyperfast drums and pitched vocals, and sometimes "clean" growls, that's their music. They manage to use well the alternation of pitch-shifted and not vocals, and that makes things interestings to my ears, because sometimes too much pitch shifter can be boring. Not many mid tempos here, this is goregrind with strong grindcore roots and just a few intros or samples taken from movies, it's pure sonic decapitation with that punkish garbage feeling. Titles are funny/splatter themed, like "Placenta on the dancefloor", "I can't believe it's not Carcass", "Let's trash metal"...
Last 3 songs were recorded live in 2008, while the others were recorded in 2007 in a reharsal room.
As you might have understood I am fucking happy of having bought this cd. And yes, it's strongly reccomended to anyone who likes it raw and fast and, quoting a sentence in the booklet of the cd "As Unholy Grave say: PLAY IT LOUD!!!", let me add "As the Noise Corner say: BUY IT NOW!!"

***Cacasonica/Captain 3 Leg split cd-r, Mortville recs. 2009
Got this as a reccomendation from my friend Brandy.
It was a long time I wanted to check out Cacasonica (see the interview I made with them), since I still haven't got the chance to check out their split tape with Gorgonized Dorks, while I already had the chance to check out Captain 3 Leg on their cd-r split with C.S.M.D..
Let's get to the split now. First 19 tracks are from Captain 3 Leg hailing from the USA. Some of the tracks have been registered as a trio in January 2007, and the last 3 as a duo in August 2006. The recordings differ from the kind of music. While the first 16 tracks are more grindcore/noisecore oriented the last 3 have d-beats, and crustish/scandinavian riffs. The first 16 tracks are noisegrind blasts. But it's not simple grindnoise, as there are a lot of influences. The guitars-bass are not always hearable, and has a downtuned decadent sound, reminding, like in "Psychic surgery", some goregrind bands. Vocals are most of the times pitch shifted, and I believe there's also a pitch-shifted speaking vocal. There are also intros taken from documentaries about African traditions and animals, like in "Death rattle". From songs 17 to 19 there's a change. The music gets slower and more punk/d-beat/scandicore influenced, think of a slower version of Shitlickers or Anti-Cimex with pitch-shifted vocals. Surely a radical change from the 2 recording sessions, but both are enjoyable, so they fit well. A lot of different influences here, I'm sure most of the lo-fi grind freaks will recognize the ability of these guys, since their stuff is cool and well done.
Following there's 9 tracks from Cacasonica, 4 freaks from Guayaquil, Ecuador. I've always heard good words upon them, plus a friend of mine who run(ned?) a label released a split tape featuring them and Gorgonized Dorks, so I was curious to check them out. The guys come from Ecuador's extreme music underground, notorious for its obscure and valid noisecore bands. I'm not sure the members played in bands like N.P.H., A La Patada, Mundo De Mierda but they sure know them (This was written before the interview, so I didn't know that there's a member who played in N.P.H.). They deliver a mixture of noisecore and furious hardcore with funny titles/intros. The last 2 tracks are from their split with their friends Colico. Their sound is really interesting and well recorded, and sometimes, especially in "Pies suicos con leche", the guitar sound reminds me of Los Crudos, with the vocals being harsher and chaotic, mixing the best of 80s hardcore with the best noisecore, resulting in something you can't dislike if you like both genres. Latino noisecore, andale!!
It's a cool release to get if you want my opinion, I would definitely check it out if I were you.

***Anal Penetration/Punished Earth split cd, I Hate Humanity recs. 2008
It's been a looooong fucking long time since I was given this. And it's linked to a fun evening when Nydoom from Anal Penetration stayed at my place after playing a gig in Alessandria. He still has to come back and play Scopa (a typical italian cards game) with me and my flatmates.
Now back to this cd. It has been produced to I Hate Humanity records, ran by Geert from Faeces Eruption.
First 9 tracks are by Anal Penetration, a one-man band from Wankercity, Holland. I first listened to Anal Penetration when I was still doing "music" with Fibrosarcoma. I remember he was porn-grind oriented, and his last stuff I heard, if I remember correctly, was a early discography called "Sperm in your anus" with 2 elephants fucking on the front cover. On this release everything seems to have changed. Except the titles and the doses of laughters you get when you read the titles. No more gurgling vocals but just a plain grindcore assault with drum machine playing as fast as a Star Wars spaceship. Guitars are really crunchy if you ask me, with a really aggressive frantic sound. Vocals alternate from low to high screams, sometimes used together, and melt well with the guitar sound. Wow, this stuff is such a rush, there's no moment to take a breath from the assault, it takes no hostages, and there's no way to hide! If you like Anal Penetration you can't miss this one!
The other 9 tracks are from Punished Earth, a brutal death/grind band from Belgium. Their tracks are technical, their sound is more metal oriented. I didn't expect to find a band like this on the other side, for somewhat reason I was thinking that it was a one-man band with drum machine. Vocals alternate from guttural growls to screams, all above a thick as a brick sound of guitars, bass and drums. A lot of quotes from movies are used. Themes varies from gore to drugs and disgust for mankind. Personally I don't like this kind of sound, I'm not into this brutal death/grind mixture, so I don't really know what to say about them, and who to compare them with (sorry), but I'm pretty sure that any brutal death fan will.

***VA- Illegal grinding, an international grindcore gathering, Co-production 2009
Bought some copies for me and my distro from Luca Jennifer Grind records. The names on it were promising, so I thought "Why not get some?"
There are 6 bands on this release, from Europe, Asia and America.
The first band is Bloody Act Of Terror from Indonesia. I didn't know them before, so it was a nice surprise, as they play 5 tracks of a good mixture between Death metal and Grindcore. I don't like the mix of the instruments, but the result is good and powerful anyway, and it hasn't got a ton of boring technical stuff. Their sounds recall to mind some Assück, in the way guitars are distorted, in the screams, and in some mid-tempos too. Also the titles seems to have that politic/ironic feeling, but there's no lyrics in the booklet. If you like this kind of stuff check them out, I think they have the skills to make something really good, so let's keep an eye on them.
Following the Indonesians there's Goner, a grindcore duo with no bass from California. Same as Bloody Act Of Terror, I've never heard them before, plus there are not many infos about them in the booklet. They have 4 tracks on this cd, and their sound is brutal as fuck. Short songs with 2 vocals always alternating and insane drum speed, too bad the guitar's sound is a bit to low when the drums blasts. I don't know if it's one of their first recordings or not, but I would like to hear more from them.
Then it's the turn of Haemophagus, Italian horror Death/Grind trio in the vein of the Austrian masters Pungent Stench. 3 tracks for them, one of which (Grotesque laceration of mortified flesh) is a General Surgery cover, all well recorded and with a clear sound. Personally I really love their sound and their style, as they melt death metal with grindcore but with that punk feeling that makes it old school and headbangable as fuck. So be sure to check them out if you like Pungent Stench or that kind of gory death/grind.
From Italy to Turkey with Sakatat. Sakatat are a grindcore trio and they're about to tour Europe in late August/September. They are a grindcore whirlwind, fast, intense and raging. 6 tracks, with a S.O.B. (Humanity of stupidity) and a Rot (Game of hypochrisy) covers , all in less than 4 minutes. The first 2 tracks are from the upcoming split with Cut Your Throat, the other 3 from the split with Slaughter Of The Innocents. Can't wait to see them live, check them out if you don't know them yet or you will regret!
After Sakatat another band who has toured Italy some time ago, D-Compose from Amsterdam. Here they have 3 tracks, with a Ramones cover (I'm not Jesus). Honestly it's not my cup of tea, I don't really like that dissonant guitars and that polished metal-like sounds. All the songs are taken from their debut album. I liked them live because of the great energy they spread, but on cd they don't seem to get my attention and they sound like a well produced metal band. That's a matter of tastes, so give them a try if you like dissonant guitars, double vocals and brutal stuff you might like them.
Last band for this is Splattered Mermaids from Malmö, Sweden. 4 tracks of splatter brutal death metal with some grindcore touches. This stuff is the most technical on this cd, fast parts alternated with slow moshing parts and riff changes. It's surely powerful stuff and it's even listenable for me, that I'm not a fan of the genre and I get bored after a few minutes of it.
So finally you can get an idea on what's on this cd. It's a good start if you're more into metal and want to check out what grindcore is, plus, if you don't know the bands, the stuff on here is more than a good starting point, since there's a good range of different sounds/styles.

***Filthy Charity- Return to the bloody old vein cd-r, Self released 2008
Got this stuff directly from Dave, who was so kind to send it and to ask for a trade, thanks again bro!
I have always been curious of checking them out, because they shared a 7 Minutes Of Nausea tribute split tape with Cripple Bastards, Harsh Feelings and Grimcorpses. Being Cripple Bastards my first exposure to grindcore, all the bands I wanted to hear after the discovery of Cripple Bastards, were the ones that shared splits with them.
For those who don't know them, Filthy Charity is a French grindcore band that started in 1989 but in 1999 the band broke up, but then they decided to re-unite in 2008. They had a several demos, one of which repressed on 7'' (Disgrace of the earth), a split 7'' with S.R.M.P. on the great Psychomania records label and some appearances on some famous comps, like Son Of Bllllleeeeaaauuurrrgghhh by Slap A Ham. This stuff was recorded after their reunion. It consists of 7 tracks, and, as the title says, you'll find some ripping "old vein" grindcore on here. Tracks are all short, the longest one is 1:39 minutes long, and it's the first track. Chaotic and harsh as fuck this cd will surely appeal everyone who still likes the mighty gods of early grindcore. Distorted punk sounding guitars, harsh screams, growls and blasting drums are the main ingredients for the recipe, all mixed with a kind of various influences, especially in the guitar, that sometimes has "metal-oriented" riffs. But no technic stuff here, just pure fast raw chaos! Sometimes there's time to take a breath with some small slower parts. I can't tell you if all the songs on here are old or some are new, but for sure the last one, "Destroy!, is an old one. There are no lyrics included, but I believe the lyrics are about social/political matters. The thing I love more about this demo are the chaotic light-speed parts with that harsh vocals on it, they're simply fucking awesome and bringing to mind all that old school noisecore/grindcore we all love.

And finally it's time to review something unexpected for you readers, because this is an ambient album. Got this from Adam itself when he played a show with Akronia, another ambient project, and Choriachi, mighty stoner rock from Bologna.
First I must spend some words on the packaging. The black 3'' mcd came in 66 copies folded in a black envelope with the number of the copy written on the inside, and the cd "case" is a sheet of paper with metallic print on it and an obi strip with Cynic Lab logo sticker on it, to close the "case". It's hard to describe it, because I don't know the exact words, but I assure you it's great. On the inside there's a story of a kind of bad trip experience in a cynic forest of bleak deformed trees (that's a translation of the title "La cinica foresta...").
Now it's time for the music. I'm not a big ambient expert, so I won't make no comparisons, because I don't feel like I know the genre enough to do them, and, since it's an ambient album, I'll focus more on the images and feeling it transmits to my mind. It's a 18 minutes long track of wicked dark ambient. I would call it "minimal" because there are not many sounds involved there. It's a really obscure and wicked track, that gives you a strange feeling of anxiety by a repetition of different sounds. First there's a haunting paranormal-like effect, then something like an explosion, followed by something like a cold artic wind, with some whistle-like sounds on it, just to remember you that the crows are flying free in that forest. Then starts a flangered repeated noise so sludgy to make you think of a swamp monster's stomach aching for its hunger, followed by some clap-like background noises. Then the hunger is calmed and there's a strange haunting UFO like effect, like the first part of the track, just to make you think about that monster itself and the wind passing through the forest. The first known image that comes to my mind to describe this is actually the cover of "Altar" by SunnO))) and Boris, but without that glimpse of hope given by the light, because this track is black, monotonous and has that "bad trip" feeling that gives you the chills down the spine. It's like being trapped somewhere you can't get out of, like a cannibal movie, where you have to run not to get eaten, but set in a forest.
If you like dark ambient I'm sure enough you'll appreciate this piece of anxiety, then you'll open the beautiful packaging and you will be satisfied while playing this piece of blackness on your stereo.

Cacasonica is one of the best act of South American noisecore in these days. I knew them when an italian label released their split tape with Gorgonized Dorks. I still haven't heard the tape but since then I started to try to track down releases and contacts from the band and I managed to arrange an intie with Paul Troya, the singer, so here it is!

2- When did you start Cacasonica? Why? Were you playing or you still play in other bands?

The band was born in 2005 in Guayaquil - Ecuador. Cacasonica is the result of what each of the members have in their brains: lust, women, psychotropic substances, video games, pleasures, what we love, what we hate, its a way of expressing extreme and libidinous thing via shouts and distorted sounds, it's real fun
Our lyrics are grotesque, vulgar, often offensive, express excitement, joy... love the amimals, plants, rivers, seas, pechugonas and nalgonas women... el amorrrrrrrrrrr
Cacasonica hates fascists, nationalists, anarchists, satanism, vatos (it's a way to call people with shitty attitude), police, religions.

5- You come from Ecuador, a South American country known for its noisecore/grindcore primitive bands like Ruido De Odio, NPH, A La Patada, Mundo De Mierda and the obscure legendary split between Chancro Duro/W, what are your favourites? How's the scene nowadays? Is there a lot of interest for grindcore, noisecore and extreme music? Do you play a lot of gigs there? Any new bands you would reccomend?

I love the scene of the late'80s until the mid-90 "with many bands of Guayaquil as NPH, A La Patada, Okapi, Mundo De Mierda, Infexion (old ones), S.D.R, Defecación Bucal, Excremento Putrefacto, 2 Semanas Con Diarrea, Armenia, Acérrimamente, Estúpida Melodía, Zombie Skindhead, Guañusca, Gonorrea Of Lips, W, Notoken, Ruido De Odio, Dafosm, Malignant Circuncixion and bands from Quito like: Chancro Duro, N.Ch and Brutal Masacre.
The scene in Guayaquil is very small here there are not many noisecore or grind bands …in the city there are many punk, death or black metal bands, but there are few good bands in Guayaquil, Quito, Manabi and Ambato like Colico,Menso Noise, Arcano 18, Tumbaburros, El Muermo, Infiltro, Asfixia, Lucho Perucho, Gripe Anal, Fonograma Trapex, Cirrosis, Hemorragea.
6- Do you guys have any hobbies beside music?
Patrick works at a telephone company, his hobby is to go with hookers and collecting music.
Fabricio is a painter and refrigeration technician. his hobbies are getting drunk and take a walk with travenstites.
Juan Carlos does not do anything, his hobbies are girls and drugs
Paul: work on something, his hobby is smoking marihuana, annoying whores and collecting tapes and vinyls

Yeah. Pretty famous one. It was a long time I wanted to upload this for some reasons. The first comes from the fact that since I saw good words upon the music, and their lyrics too, almost everywhere I looked at, I couldn't find the lyrics anywhere on the web, so when I got a copy of this LP I finally realized why there was such a big hype about them. I love their fast and aggressive style, it's a concentrate of anger and intensity and their lyrics are politic oriented but in some way personal, and very straight to the point.
Also the package of this re-issue is awesome, the cover is screenprinted on a piece of corrugated cardboard and there's a booklet included too.
If you missed this, in my opinion, you missed one of the best records of the 90s (and that's the second reason), so here's your chance to listen to it!
And also, for those who still hasn't read their lyrics you can find them on the pdf file I uploaded with the scannings of the whole booklet at 150dpi quality.

Thanks to Kotsya from Pissdeads for sending this to my email address,
Pissdeads is a noisegrind one-man band from Russia. His sound consist of a blasted drum and a wall of noise created by vocals and fuzzy guitars. The recording seems to be recorded in a reharsal room or something, with a strange reverber on the drums, that seems like a bunch of saucepans. They remind me of some Deche-Charge stuff, except their songs are longer and, on this side, are 8, so no 345675839 tracks as one can expect, plus the vocals are pretty harsh and Anal Cunt-ish. It's good noisegrind if you want my opinion, this split has good stuff on it, so I think that something interesting may come out in the future from this guy. So be sure to take an eye on him.
Brain-Sick is from Russia too, and plays a kind of lo-fi noisegrind too. It's a pity I haven't got many infos about this, except they're friends of Pissdeads. They deliver 7 tracks, with a cover of Anal Cunt's "Harvey Corman is gay", of well-done grind with some noise touches. Too bad the vocals and guitars are a a bit low, as I can guess it's a home-made recording. I'm pretty sure I'll try to get some more infos, because, in my opinion, they need better recordings.
It's a good split, enjoyable, so, if you want to hear some underground stuff with unknown bands, go for it.

***Cancer Spreading/Cruel Storm split 7'', Co-production 2009
And here's again Cancer Spreading. I was impatient to check out some better recorded stuff, and here I am. And you know? It was worth. I was lucky enough to find in a distro a week after it was out, so I didn't have to order it somewhere.
Cancer Spreading, see here for the older review, are from Modena, Italy. Now they added a guitar player so they're 5. As you can guess by their name, they love Deviated Instinct. So do I, can't blame them for this eheh. On this piece of wax they deliver 2 tracks of filthy stenchcore. Fast parts alternated to mid tempos followed by metalish harsh distorted guitars and sung with raw growls. This stuff reminds me of old UK stuff in the vein of the first crust bands, so a lot of punkish flith mixed to metalish thrashing with an 80s style. One song is about religion, while the other one is an attack to the so called "progress". Great recording if you ask me, definitely worth checking out.
On the other side there's Cruel Storm. They are a 4 piece d-beat band from Cesena, Italy. I had never heard them so this was the first time they reached my ears. Fast hammering drums that reminds me of some Scandinavian touches and some Masskontroll-ish riffs, and a desperate vocalist and with a punkish edge that reminds me of some Anti-Cimex. They too have 2 tracks, both have political lyrics. One is against war and the other is a refusal of this society. I actually like this stuff more than I thought. I'm not a big d-beat fan, but this band mixes a lot of things I like, so "Fuck Yeah", I say.
Congrats to all the label involved in this, this has 2 cool bands and prove that in Italy there's still something to say and to play. Don't miss this if you're into this kind of stuff, you won't fucking regret!!

***AxSxHx- Dead area fastcore 7'', NFL, Dead Area, Holy Shit, Breathlike Violence records 2009
I bought this off NFL distro (which is one of the co-producers). It was described as "Hellnation meets Crossed Out", so how could I miss this one?
AxSxHx are a Dutch trio. Their name stands for Another Stupid Hardcoreband. I'm not 100% sure they are three (I guessed it from the band pic in the back cover) because there's no info on the record sleeve+inlay. They have 11 songs on this vinyl. One is an intro and one an outro. The intro's about "The Crimson Executioner", with quotes from movies on a mid tempo with guitar and bass playing. For the songs you have to wait till the second song. And from then it's a blast. Hyper fast blastings drums combined with hyper distorted guitar and bass. Some slow parts are present too, but don't be sad, these won't last for long. All the noise is sung with Crossed Out-esque and a bit of Spazz reminding vocals. This stuff is beyond the adjective "raging", it's pure powerviolence madness. Ultra intense, raging, fast as hell music. Vocals reminds me of the criminally underrated and fucking awesome German band Flächenbrand. Lyrics are about life in general, some are in dutch, and one is about "hardcore" and all the elitism around it in the so called "scenes". Then after all this raging tupa tupa trrr harsh core you have an harsh noise outro called "Soap for hygiene" by Apophallation, a dutch harsh noise performer, just to relax your ear with after such a rush. Cool cover as well, with a collage of funny things and movie-characters upon a Dutch city.
If you're into this stuff you can't miss this, it's refreshing as hell, we need more stuff with these intenisty!!! If you choose not to buy it then don't tell me I hadn't warned you!!

Since it's a great piece of a vinyl, it's hard to find, and it has 2 great bands with greats songs on it, I decided to rip this one.
I'm a real record nerd, and I can't deny that I would love to have the splatter multicolored vinyl edition.
Dropdead on this release are at full speed, intense and angry as ever.
Rupture have a kickass side, most of the songs, if not all of them, will feature, a little bit modified and better recorded, in my personal Rupture's fave album "Corrupture".

2- Speaking of you, you're a new band (right?), is that your first experience or you have already played in other bands? What pushed you to play grindcore? Why? What are your main influences? Where does your name come from?

JAIP was born as an idea from Capasso (drums) and LKK (vocals) in 2003, first things started in 2004 on alternate periods since 2005 when a stable line-up was found. Since when I joined to play bass and so we started as a serious project.
We all played in other bands before. Collera (guitar) played in 7bloodyhopes, still active and great musicians, friends and stage mates; Collera also plays in Terror Firmer, a kickass thrash/speedcore project that is also touring a lot around Italy: it has also members from Repulsione and Cancer Spreading. Capasso played in Able To Be, a post-core project and has a solo dub-step project. LKK is part of the black metal project Abyss and his personal project Le Maschere A Gas & Vedova Negra. I, together with Capasso and my brother, founded Slavekill, later joined by LKK too. This band was active from 1998 to 2003, it was a thrash metal inspired by 80s San Francisco Bay Area, like Metallica, Slayer, Testament. Then I played a year with Coffee Overdrive, a metal/hard rock band which is still active, and with whom I recorded the first demo and drew the graphics.
As regards what pushed us to play grindcore, I think it was because of listening to such bands as Dahmer, Locust and Nasum. Especially as regards LKK and Capasso. I and Collera, instead, we got interested in grindcore with the birth of JAIP, not before. And, since we love extreme music, we liked it a lot. And, in my opinion, an ingenuous approach, sometimes, can create varied but also unexpected and unusual parts in the genre. By the way, the influences are a ton, it'd be an endless list of bands. We listen to both European and American bands as well as hardcore, thrash and death metal bands.
Our name means essentially one thing: Jesus is not in Poland. But not even in other countries. It's our big fuck off to all the religions, also the one about money and finance. Having a God is harful for ourselves and for the weakest people. Anyway is also a fun name, and this is meant for us not to take ourselves too seriously.

3- I appreciated your cd "Holobscene", is that the first thing you recorded or there's something before? Are you satisfied with it? Plans for the future? Will you put out a ton of records like Agathocles or Unholy Grave?

Thanks a lot! Holobscene is out first studio-EP, before we recorded some live set that can be found on the internet, and we partecipated to some compilations, but Holobscene is our first official EP. We are quite satisfied with it, it allowed us to play a lot of shows around and to get the name out of our country, reviews have always been good, but there's always the chance to do better. By the way i'll calm you: we'll never put out a lot of CDS as Agathocles, but we are thinking of making a split at least. We are working on new tracks and we'll see if we will include them all in a new EP or use 4 or 5 for a split.

4- Speaking of tours/live dates, I can see you're about to tour abroad, with the nasty guys from 2 Minuta Dreka, can you tell us some more about it? Will you record some shows? I heard rumours of a possible signature for a major label and a departure for a world tour with Alice Cooper, Ozzy and Motley Crüe with dates in Rwanda stadiums, is that real (Author's note: this is a stupid question playing with the title of one of their songs, Caterpillars in Rwanda)

Yeah, unfortunately we will have to hang around with that smelly nastyness called 2 Minuta Dreka, they broke our balls so much that we had to take them with us.
No, seriously, Brandy, 2 Minuta Dreka's singer, asked us if we wanted to join them so we accepted. He organized all the dates and he found all the contacts alone, he worked a lot for this. We will play 9 dates in 10 days, we won't have any shower and we are really happe they decided to share their June's sweat with us! We don't know how we could thank him!
I hope we will have the chance to record something, and I hope it won't be just amateur video stuff, we'll see...anyway we'll have excellent snuff-movies when we'll get back!
Speaking of labels we don't have any and we're happy this way, too bad for the Rwanda tour (some days ago it was the aniversary of the massacre, but nobody spoke about it...).
Anyway in the future we'll do some co-productions for sure, we have already spoken with someone, but just for distribution and nothing more.

5- How do you spend your free time else than playing? Do you listen to other kinds of music or are you grindcore fundamentalists? Recently played albums?

Free time?? What's that? We all have a job, I study too, and in the evening we play. Collera has 2 bands, so the remaining time is really little. But we listen to a lot of different music, starting from Ambient, electronics, some songwriters (to be honest only 2...). I speak for me, my recent listens are The Crown, Mastodon and Francesco Guccini (an italian songwriter). But today, while coming back home, I listened to Nasum's shift. Capasso, Collera and LKK listen to so much music that 3 sleepless lifes would be needed to listen to it all. So, not only grindcore.

Hey readers! This time I wanted to ask a few questions to Mesrine, grindcore from Quebec. I'm sure most of you know them, but if you don't be sure to check them out because they really play it fast and brutal!

1- Hey guys! Hows life?

DAN= Hey what's up? Life is alright, it's christmass time, lots of parties!

2- You're one of the best grindcore acts around nowadays, so when did you start? Why? What was your main aim back then? Are you guys involved in any other band?

DAN= Thanx for the nice words. We started in 1997 as a simple project, back then we just wanted to jam and have a bit of fun. I think it's still like this today but more serious. We are focused and always have some projects of new releases, gigs, tours etc. We keep ourselves busy to keep things interesting. We all have other bands, Fred and Steve play in a crossover type band called LICK ASS, Jack plays in a thrash metal band BOMBNATION and i play in another thrash metal band called ABÜSOR. All these bands have releases out and play shows. We have also been involved in other bands like Fistfuck and Dis-eased. Oh yeah i almost forgot, i'm also in DECHE-CHARGE the infamous noisecore band since 1990!!!

3- What are your main influences? When you first discovered grindcore? Do you think grindcore is dead? Any new band you would reccomend?

DAN= My influences have always been the same like old Napalm Death, old Agathocles, old Carcass, old E.N.T., Blood, Repulsion, Impetigo, Psycho etc. I first discovered grindcore in 1989 with Napalm Death 'Scum'. Grindcore is not and never was dead. There has always been a big active DIY underground scene. New bands i like are SAKATAT from Turkey, Carbonized 16 Year Old Victim (Canada), F.A.T.O. + G.O.D. (Canada), Death Toll 80K (Finland) + lots more all around the world.

4- How many releases have you put out so far? What are your favourite ones? Plans for the future? What about a split with Deche-Charge (eheheheh)?

DAN= I don't know how many releases, somewhere around 15 7" ep's, 3 full albums, one split LP/CD, afew split CD's, some tapes etc...too many to list here. I like the 'Shot To Death' 7", the 'I Choose Murder' CD etc... But i don't listen to our own stuff very much. We plan to record a new album by mid 2009. We have a few split releases planned for 2009 with bands like Iron Butter, Who's My Savior, Gorgonized Dorks, F.A.T.O., Sakatat. Also our first and third albums will come out on LP if all goes well.

5- How was your Obscene Extreme experience? Was it the first time there for you? I was lucky enough to see you and it was really fun, do you plan to come to tour Europe soon? What about Canada, are there a lot of shows? Any Canadian band you would reccomend?

DAN= OEF was awesome. Really great times there we met tons of cool people from all around the planet. A great experience. We might tour Europe again maybe in 2010 i don't know really. It's too early to say what we will do. We have toured Canada a couple of times mainly in 2007 we did a full tour all across the country. Now we play less often then we used to as we have been around for a while. When cool bands come around we like to play with them when possible.

6- Do you have any other hobbies besides playing fast? Do you listen to other kinds of music than grindcore? Do you watch a lot of movies?

DAN= Oh yeah we mostly don't listen to grindcore, i'm a big AC/DC fan and i love thrash metal (old school stuff). We are all into different types of stuff as well as grindcore. I'm not a big movie fan but there is a movie about Jacques Mesrine just out that i will see for sure. Horror/Gore movies? Who cares, it's boring to me. I prefer documentaries about killers.

7- Agathocles or Rot? Terrorizer or Carcass? Fear Of God or Napalm Death?

DAN= In order my faves are 1.Napalm Death 2.Agathocles 3.Carcass But all those bands are in the top of my list.

**Nonsense- Red i rad demo (Released as split tape with Praia De Vômito)
""Red i Rad" is about bringing back the anger and approach of traditional former Yugoslavian and worldwide hardcore trash. We are not "retro" or "old school", this sound is what we think is missing today, and for Nonsense it perfectly fits the harsh subjects that we are dealing with; life at Balkans, wars, corruption, ideological hypocrisy, and social decay. No preaching here, just the real life disillusion and despair. We follow no "scene" or any other rules for what we should think or play, this demo is our answer to all of that."
This is directly taken from the infos document I received with this demo. Gotta say I 100% agreee, and think this description fits with the whole demo.
I received this from Kktz, the vocalist.
It was recorded in 2008, but some songs were remakes of songs from previous projects involving Kktz and the other members, Gera and Dena, in the 90s.
Musically we have 7 tracks of fast and noisy hardcore with 3 covers bringing back to mind the old gods like Heresy, with touches of scandinavian stuff like Sekunda, all stuff that makes you want to tear down the walls in the room. Songs are mostly less than one minute long, the guitar is harsh but not too noisy, and it can be well heard while the drums are blasting. The vocals are screamed in a style that can remind of Discharge (not the ones of Grave New World, of course). There's no bass in this recording. The covers included are: "U.B.R." from the totally underrated yugo band U.B.R., "Vidim Krv" by Zenevski Dekret and a personal version with a slow chorus of "It's no t.v. sketch" by Discharge.
The lyrics are all in croatian, so i can't tell you exactly what they say (so just read what they wrote on the infos above).
Most of the times I'm disilluded when people speak about "old school hardcore", so I was really happy to see there's still people doing it like that.
In my opinion this piece of noise is really worth, at least, listening (at a loud volume), but I would definitely reccomend getting it in some way, cuz if you like it old and raw and you'll love this!
It's been released as a split tape with the Brazilian band Praia De Vômito by S.A.O.R.S. You can check them out on myspace too.

***C.S.M.D./Intumescence split 8'', N.F.L. Records
Bought this together with the 8'' split between C.S.M.D. and Deche-Charge, from NFL.
It's a lathe cut vinyl, there were only 46 copies of it. (Lathe cut vinyl is a kind of DIY vinyl made with a special machine)
C.S.M.D. stands for Crowd Surfers Must Die and they're a Dutch noisecore act, delivering us 35 tracks of psychedelic noisecore.
The music is a mixture of 7 M.O.N., Sore Throat but with a sci-fi touch, given by the use of a theremin, that creates an odd space atmosphere that fits well with the titles of the songs, that are mostly related to space, monsters and sci-fi movies. Some songs are even covers (?) with changed titles (Suffer the monster, Unchallenged monster).
No guitars here, but the noise is powerful anyway, so you won't miss the lack of 6 strings. Drums are blasting all the time and give you no time to take a breath from the noise immersion in the deep space.
On the other side there's Intumescence. Hailing from Netherlands too, they're the downtuned answer to old Carcass with a touch of early Napalm Death.
The sounds are really raw, and the downtuned riffs give with the mid tempos and the pitch shifted vocals give the songs a sludgy feeling. The blasting parts are amazing too, reminding of the old outbursts by early Carcass/Napalm Death but also Last Days Of Humanity, bringing to mind that rawness that amazes me everytime I play "Scum" by Napalm Death.
If you consider yourself a goregrind fan, then you don't have no excuses for not knowing them.
This record is surely a blast and both bands surely deserve higher consideration, because, in these days, we all need to hear refreshing stuff like this.
It's been re-released, as far as I know, together with C.S.M.D./Deche-Charge 8'', on a pro-printed cd-r, by N.F.L.
If I remember well the cd is limited to 200 copies so write to noiseape@casema.nl to get one.

***Grief- Tour 7'', Alerta Antifascista
This one was a special edition 7'' I got at the Grief show in Piacenza.
If you have missed them live, you missed a great live band, too bad the bands who played with them in Piacenza were not even musically close to them, so the venue was full of metal core straight edge guys screaming nonsense stuff about scene unity...Even Trap Them were not that impressive to me...
For those who don't know Grief is a Sludge/Doom band and it shared members with Disrupt (only the guitarist/singer now).
Anyway this 7'' contains 2 live songs recorded somewhere in time by someone (I'm quoting what's written on the inlay).
The 2 songs are "One of those days", the first track of "Miserably ever after", and "Fucked upstairs" from their first full-lenght "Dismal".
Both songs are recorded well and hit your ears with the slow fuzzy heavy pounding sound that wanna makes you bang your head till the end of the song. Too bad the bass is not too loud, but it's still a good recording.
Thumbs up for the cover (I actually love that drawing).

1- I moved to another town to do university and i got no internet in my flat

2- How long are you running Must!Play!Faster! distro?Why you decided to
start it?

i been running the distro for like awhile now i dont know the exact day but it started out as a shirt distro and all i got hooked up with max ward and brian stern & paul acevedo from godstomper so i decided to get shirts and all and see how it would work out but i guess it got out of hand and all dont get me wrong i like what i do its fun you meet cool people from all over the globe and make new friends some rip you off some dont thats the way it works i havent been ripped off yet by a dead beat distro so i guess im safe i have my place stalked up with distro all over soon ill have to use my daughter and my wifes room as a storage i send out alot of orders or trades every week sometimes they gather up i get alot of demos in of people that want me to check them out so its hard to hear alot of stuff and see what i like stuff i dont use i just send it back my distro is a document of good bands that are really sincere about what they do and are not trying to do a get rich scheme emails come in alot so its alot of stuff answering emails and etc my wife alicia helps me alot also so its alot better she does all the mail outs and keeps records of what comes in and what comes out im real bad at doing papper work all i know how to do is the items i distro i have my buddy edgar ramirez from AxRxMx hes the singer (APATHETIC RONALD MCDONALD) HE DOES ALOT OF KILLER SHIRT DESIGHNS IM GONNA HAVE OUT SOON so i thank him also shawn from capitalist casualties also hooks me up good stuff i sell stuff at a cool price i give half my profit back to the bands and all not that i have to its just what i want to do help out people that got me off the floor and hes a real good guy and im friends with alot of the west bay coalition im happy of the fact that i met alot of good people on this journey and talking to people that are in the same line as me means alot to me...
i wanted to start MxPxF! i want to help out in the local thrash scene help out kids that do play in bands that are really sincere d.i.y. is refreshing i want to help bands that basically deserve it i seen alot of good bands out there to many fuckin myspace bands

3- Do you plan to make some albums in the future? or will you just keep distributing them??

yeh i and this guy from this band called xanax feast were putting out a godstomper/xanax feast split paul from godstomper hooked me up with him so that was cool and all its good working with all these guys plus i run grindblock records u.s. division for my friend brandy from 2 minutadreka so alot is on my plate but ill manage im gonna be working with avulsion soon i talked to the guys and i belive ryan is not in the band no more so i will work with matt on that one there is a canadian band i want to put out also called john mac lane theres some good bands i want also LAST from japan they are fuckin bad ass i advise all you to check them out http://www. myspace. com/last08

situation in the Northern California?

east bay has a good scene west bay other then that u have to know people that know people that know where its all at not really lots of good shows where i live its all in eastbay and so last good show was fiesta grande man that was bad ass i heared i was suppose to go but i got lazy Do you go to them?not really i been going to shows since 1985 when i do hear of a band playing i say im gonna go but i end up fooling myself i just basically run my distro now really dont go to shows not unless its a good band and all eastbay as i said im gonna be helping organize latino fest soon so i will see how that goes in northern california we havent had any big events at all so i been out of step for awhile

6- Do you have any other hobbies beside music?

i like to hang out with my 2 daughters i just got my daughter a electric guitar so she likes to imitate spazz ill put the c.d. on and she plays along to the music or she can sing whatxhappensxnext? alot of kids in the younger generation are to influenced by britany spears and all that other mainstream music i try my best to keep them away from it but i know i can only go so far then it ends i collect japanese robots if that can be considered a hobbie old 80S video games and all trying to get out more i made a new transition in my life so its working out pretty good

Agents Of Abhorrence intie

I first saw Agents Of Abhorrence when they came to Italy with Potop. I was amazed by the great energy they had, so I spoke with their drummer, Max, that was so cool to accept to make an intie. I suggest you to check em out since they'll make your ears bleed!!!

1- Hi guys, how's life?

2- Tell us some more about Agents Of Abhorrence, when did you start?

the rest is well, history. we done a tape demo, covert lobotomy 9", split 7" with Iron Lung, Character Dissection CD / LP, Eart, Water, Sun CD and two split recordings that are never gonna come out.....sigh.....
MAX: We started cos we are old friends who like the same music. The first few years we were a 2 piece. On the demo, 9" and split 7" with Iron Lung it was just Ben on guitar and Me on drums and vocals. Then we got Grant Andrew Johns aka Jason on board for his sensual throat. Everything since then record and live has been better for AOA. The splits may come out. We have had bad luck. A split with Insect Warfare (r.i.p) and Extortion should be out. Should being the operative word!!!

3- What are your biggest influences? What were your first grindcore
bands? What about new ones?

BEN: i only really listen to what i would call classic grind. Axis, Nasum, Regurgitate etc; Australian grind is up there with the best of em though, obviously. Roskopp are unbelievable.
MAX: I only listen to soul and funk. My first taste of grindcore was local melbourne bands like Open Wound, The Kill, Vaginal Carnage, Warsore, Magnacite, fallout, Stammench. Right now it has to be amazing to get my attention. Recently I've been listening to Mortalized, GATE, Looking for an answer, Roskopp and maybe a few others.

4- How about Australia? Do you have/play a lot of gigs there? Any Oz
band you would reccomend? Did you enjoy yourself during your Euro tour?

BEN: Australia, esp Melbourne has a flourishing grind scene. bands such as Roskopp, the Kill, Fuck...I'm Dead and Doubled Over are all totally killer no filler. lots of gigs yes. Very different to Europe but i love Europe so much it would be hard to say anything bad about our experiences there. loved it!
MAX: Other bands you can check out are: Super Happy Fun Slide, Extortion, Crux, Die Pigeon Die, Garbage Guts, The Day Everything Became nothing, Dad They Broke Me, Beyond Terror Beyond Grace, Pathetic Human, Undinism and the mighty Captain Cleanoff. Plus the ones Ben Said.

5- Do you like other kinds of music beside grindcore? What are the
albums you've been listening to lately?

BEN: hell yes! i just got a double GROWING live LP that rules, i listen to a lot of noise and, for want of a better word, experimental stuff. it really gets me off. also, the new Cold Play single is fucking stella. no joke.
MAX: Hell yes. I'm listening to the new Roots Manuva album - fantastic. I love soul, jazz, hip hop and funk records - always have.

6- What are your main hobbies? Do you watch a lot of movies?

BEN: many movies, mainly romantic comedies starring Cameron Diaz or Ben Stiller but preferably both. he has big silly ears.
MAX: Romance and Comedy are the 2 best things in life. Especially on film. I don't have enough of either in my life so I watch Ben Stiller and his ears. Hobbies..I skate when the weather is nice. Buy records allot.

7- Man Is The Bastard or No Comment? Nasum or Retaliation? Grind or
Powerviolence?

BEN: MITB, NASUM and Grindcore.
MAX: No Comment, Nasum (although I love retaliation), Grindcore. Fuck try hard power violence scenes. Boring idiots.

Lately I've been to some concerts, and I had some albums i really wanted to review, so why not doing a review special??
Here it is you guy, enjoy!!

***Cancer Spreading- Raw demo sessions demo tape, Goodbye Mankind
Hailing from Modena, Italy, here's the demo of this stenchcore act.
I met the singer at a concert of his other band, Terror Firmer (thanks again for this tape!!).
This demo consists of 11 tracks included 2 covers, 1 from Sodom (Outbreak of evil) and 1 from Deviated Instinct (Despair) and 3 songs recorded live at DIY fest in 2007.
There is no info about when and where it's been recorded, but it seems like it's a good homemade recording.
The sound they create is cool, especially because it's not always about mid tempos, fast parts alternates to slower ones, and that makes it really interesting to my ears. The guitar sometimes is too low, but it's still hearable with its thrashy anrgry sound, reminding me of some riffs from arise by Amebix. The vocals are guttural, in some parts reminding of Masskontroll. Also the second voice is cool, it's pretty harsh too and create a really good mix with the lead one. I can't tell much about the lyrics and the whole concept because there are no lyrics in the tape, just the pics of flyers from past shows, but I can assume they're all about the misery of life and human extinction. My fave tracks are: Sacrilegio (Sacrilege), Incubo (Nightmare), Catarsi (Catharsis) and Macerie (Junk).
This demo sets all the elements for a good debut, but my suggestions are:
- make guitars a little bit rawer and louder for the next recording
- try to use the 2 kind of vocals (like in the Deviated Instinct cover) more

***Bukkake Violence Kommando/Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium split tape, Grind Block Records
A long time passed before I was able to get this tape with the Ukranians pussy lovers Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium and my Italian fetish addicted friends Bukkake Violence Kommando, since I first heard Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium years ago on a split tape with Nunriders Of Black Doom and I never heard my friends Bukkake Violence Kommando even if me & Andrea know each other from 3 years now.
Bukkake Violence Kommando are a noisegore trio from Rovigo, Italy. In this tape they recorded a session of 20 porno themed songs. Basically the sound is a mix of lo-fi noisecore with downtuned fuzzy guitars and lots of porn samples, bringing to my mind some old school noisecore stuff mixed with some Meat Shits. Songs are basically short blasts and outbursts of rage, except for 3 songs that have a small musical intro or slower tempos. Voice is shifted but not bubbling, it sounds raging and putrid, obtaining different charateristics than the ones that seems to be more trendy nowadays (see all this new bands fighting for the "sickest vocals" title.)
Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium are from Ukraine and they have a live recording from 2006. The sound, even if it's pretty lo-fi is decent and not bad at all even if the vocals are a bit too loud. Think of a rawer version of Gut, with the same joke attitude towards porn, in fact, in the live set, a cover version of the immortal classick Cripple Bitch is included. Mid tempos seems to have more importance than fast blasts, and the voices alternate from high pitch choruses to pitch shifted low verses. The songs has no titles, they're called like New song #13, Erotic song or names like that.
Solid release for those who are not afraid of low tunes, DIY recordings and sick stuff, PC idiots stay away from this!!!

***Burmese/Potop split LP, Crucificados Pelo Sistema, Fuck Yoga
Got this split at a Potop show in Alessandria (posted the flyer here some weeks ago). Potop did a great show, lot of distortion, feedback, pounding slow parts and low tunes, despite the fact there was only a bunch of people seeing them.
I was a bit doubtful if buying it or not, so I asked Ivan, Potop's singer, who were Burmese, and he replied me: "It's some eclectic stuff, think of a mix extreme music together". Fuck!, he was right.
Burmese are 4 guys from San Francisco. The first band that comes into my mind while listening to this recording, is Man Is The Bastard, but with less catchier riffs and powerviolence influences, a lot of stop and go parts, and the guitar/bass sound reminds of some MITB works with a bit of distortion added. Also a lot of power electronics intermezzos are present in this recording, that's why the best definition that comes in my mind is: Burmese are like Venetian Snares but for extreme music and with real instruments. Don't get me wrong, no violins, sweet sounds or techno atmospheres in here, but the sound is as chaotic as a Venetian Snares release could be. There's also a song, starting with a fast and frenzy bass line with some seconds of silence later, which "lyrics" are spoken between a noise inferno created using a distorted version of the initial bass line. I find this side interesting for its particularity. If you like experimental stuff you'll like them.
Potop is from Macedonia, and they are 4 guys (one is one of the guys from Fuck Yoga, who recently released an LP version of West side horizons by Despise You), playing 2 songs of really slow doom/sludge. The guitar riffs, altough they're powerful and distorted, they are not as down tuned as other bands and they give space to some malinconic and sad melodies enriched by the painful screams of Ivan, the singer. The drums are pounding, and so slow that kind of drumming could remind some drone bands. I have no idea of the titles of the songs and the lyrics since all is written in cyrillic alphabet.
This split comes in silkscreened cover and is limited to 500 copies. If you're not afraid of experimentation and slow stuff you would like it, and I suggest it to get it by contacting Burmese, Fuck Yoga, Potop, Crucificados Pelo Sistema.

***Various Artists- I'm goin ape #3 7'', N.F.L. & Breathlike Violence
It was a long time I was waiting for the final chapter of the almighty "I'm goin ape" noisecore compilation series, and I have to admit that waiting was so fucking worth it.
This time on this comp there are Intumescence from Holland, Yesmeansyes from Finland, Deche-Charge from Canada and Rotgut from Holland.
Intumescence starts this record with some noisecore songs recorded especially for this comp. The sound is different from the Carcass sound they have in their last recordings, but it's kickass stuff. Think of early Anal Cunt, Sore Throat and Gore Beyond Necropsy and you got them, crunchy and old school sounding guitars, blasting drums and lo-fi screams & growls, it seems like if was recorded in the first 90s. These guys know how to do it!!
After there's Yesmeansyes that blasts with a studio session recorded in Lahti in 1998. This is total noise, short nonstop blasting parts with harsh guitar sound, vox has echo or reverb on it. Countless songs for a big dose of noise.
On side B Deche-Charge opens with a re-recording of their second demo, "Le retour des deche cores". 271 songs in less than 5 minutes!!! This time this demo is recorded with a guitar and real drums too. Noisecore as its best making you feel what sonic confusion is, songs less than 1 second short, funny titles, Deche-Charge!!
Rotgut is pre C.S.M.D. and it's the Dutch answer to Anal Cunt and Sore Throat. This recording features a 1991 never released demo. 6 tracks of pure old school noisecore, raw guitar sounds, fast guitars, growls & screaming together hits the spot creating a great noisecore assault.

***Abortion/Mesrine split 7'', Zas!Autoproduzioni, Jennifer Grind, Ignorant Worm & Trenchcore
Got this one from my friend Luca from Jennifer Grind on mailorder edition limited to 100 white vinyls.
First time I heard Abortion from Slovakia, I was supposed to see them playing at Obscene Extreme but I was too fucking drunk. This recording has 4 songs, including a revisited cover version of "Mon cherie" by Tankard. 4 tracks of fast, aggressive grindcore that reminds of some Agathocles. The guitar is angry and the riffs are punkish, while the voice is most of the times screamed while the drums have different variations. Most of the songs have also slower parts than the blasts, and this, with the guitar riff recalls some crusty sounds. The lyrics deals about personal problems more than politics except for the Tankard cover (if you don't know what Tankard lyrics are about try to guess it by their name!).
Mesrine from Canada, have 3 tracks recorded in 2008 in reharsal room. They deliver 3 tracks of manic, serial killer themed grindcore. Fast blastbeats, fast guitars and a good mix between screams & growls is what you get. The song "Deeper and darker" has a guitar riff that is a bit thrashy, a bit different from the other 2 songs on this record, that are pure grindcore. No time to take a breath with this, so if you're looking for some fast and brutal stuff here you go, you won't be disappointed.
Great release, glad to see this time 3 Italian labels put it out, good work you guys!

Hey guys!!
here's the first blog's interview with a label, this time with my great friend Brandy of Grind Block Records, Sonic Arse tapes, 2 Minuta Dreka, Grinder Mafia (RIP) and Penis Enlargement.
It was translated by me from Italian, I hope everything will be understandable and easy to read!

1- Hi Brandy, how's life?

"Life sucks, then you die". I'll start this intie with a quote and I'll finish it with another one. Apart from the fact that I just finished jacking me off and endorphines makes my mind more relaxed. I'm listening to "Neon Genesis Evangelion" soundtrack, and this helps to make life less shitty. But apart from this 2 things I can't really say it's going fine. It's normal routine, I'm used to it.

2- How's your label going? What are the future plans? When did you start it? Why you decided to start it?

Label's going well, we just made a big distro restock and opening U.S. division helped us making concrete plans on our future releases. We trade a lot and I think that by the end of the year our last release, Agathocles / Repulsione split 7", will sold out. Our future plans are several 7''s and 2 CDs. The upcoming releases are Dispepsiaa / Axed Up Conformist 7", 2 Minuta Dreka / Impotence Trichomonad 7", SMG / Repulsione 7", Final Exit / Deche-Charge 7", 2 Minuta Dreka / Iron Butter 7". By February first Repulsione's full lenght CD should be out. Well when I started...In 2001 I founded a label called Noise Holocaust records, it was a label without expectations, I dubbed tapes and cd-r and I had a small distro I used to carry with me at local gigs. Then I started to release records, my first release was the demo tape of my past noisecore project Grinder Mafia "Terror Demo 2002", followed by a bunch of comps and few things more. In 2004 I started to have a more serious approach to it, and considering that at that time grindcore was everything for me I started to dedicate all myself to the label and I changed the name in Grind Block Records. The name comes from the famous Black Blocks that smashed everything in the streets in Genova (it was the period in which there was G8). If Black Blocks destroys everything in the streets, then Grind Block destroys everything in the musical sphere. During this years I was devoted to the tape format, not giving a shit if a band would sell or not, but nowadays a strong period of chrisis has arrived for tapes. The only ture freaks who buy grind/noisecore are maniacs that are parts of a small group of people, that I don't think has more than 200 guys.
That's why I decided to found a satellite label called Sonic Arse tapes and I also decided to transfer all the distro tapes and to produce new ones with this. Grind Block releases CDs and vinyls, a format we really love. Since a couple of years Grind Block has a new important collaborator, Matteo. We try to do our best trading kickass stuff from all the world, being always updated on new releases.
Despite the fact that the scene is dying, a lot of labels are forced to close and only the big ones have the bands that sell more, we go on with humility and determination, trying to be nice with everyone, receiving respect from our international partners.

3- How and when you discovered grindcore? How's the situation in italy? What are your fave bands?

I first discovered grindcore when I was 17, some friends of mine brought me in a squat (I was a punk back then) and there I saw the first grindcore band, with the passing years I discovered who they were, but nobody knows them and I think they split up so there's no need to speak about them. There I bought my first grindcore 7" Rot's "Fatality". The second concert and the listening of the disc at home really impressed me and from then I really realized where I could channel my adolescential frustration with the right extremism. Time has passed and what was a scene (late 90s/first years of 2000) now it's only a shadow of itself. A shadow that is getting everytime smaller and smaller.
In italy the "scene" it's all about squats because clubs, that only care about money, are rarely interested in organizing gigs for a few people. Should we blame club's owners? NO! It's fault of all the guys that don't come to concerts! The situation is really on the brink of a break, people that organizes grindcore gigs in Italy can be counted on a hand. Some old school bands now have a metal wannabe attitude, and this is a squalid significant symptom.
Speaking again of Squats, nowadays they only bear on themselves and they "go on" just thanks to inertia. Their ruin was due their bending on themselves, being hard-liners and purists without any attempt to evolve, and now they're dead. The only decent underground scenes in Italy, as far as I know, ar Black Metal and Hardcore.
My favourite italian bands? Hard to say, there are only a few good bands in Italy, only Jesus Ain't In Poland and the newcomers Ultimo Mondo Cannibale and Replusione come to my mind.

4- I see you also run Grind Block live events, what are the best gigs you did? What about future gigs?

For sure the first edition of Semptember to Dismember in 2006 with Mixomatosis and Needful Things, then also the show with Squash Bowels / Neuropathia in 2005 was memorable and then some others, but these 2 were the best. On the contrary I can list a lot of shitty concerts where we had to pay bands with our money and where someone did not do what he was supposed to do, fucking up everything. Our next engagement it's the upcoming September to Dismember 2 that comes back after 2 years (and it's really much for Italy), this time instead of 2 days, the days are 4 with international bands coming, some also intercontinental! For sure it will be a "can't miss", most of these bands come in Italy for the first time and for sure it's not so easy to see them near home. The most important bands are Mixomatosis, Agents of Abhorrence, Anal Penetration, 2 Minuta Dreka, Gonorrhea Pussy and Xaros.

5- What about 2 Minuta Dreka? How is it going? Do you still have problems because of PC activist calling you "Sexist"? Are you still searching for a drummer?

Unfortunately with 2 Minuta Dreka we stopped for a year because of personal problems and the loss of our drummer. This has damaged us for sure, but we decided to resist and try to continue in some way, organizing some mini tours abroad and some gigs here in Italy. Unfortunately we can't compose new stuff, it's not impossible, we know, but it's not our style.
Since we can't find a drummer, we decided to ask for help to a guy who is going to play only live. Naturally if he's not busy, because if he is we use a drum machine. As regards the problems with PC people of my balls I thought they would have turn quiet but last year when we were playing a gig, they turned off the electricity after 3 song, so you be the judge.

6- What will be your dream with 2 Minuta Dreka and Grind Block records??

My dream with 2 Minuta Dreka is to make a tour in Japan!!!!!!!!!!!!
With Grind Block Records, my dream is to grow as a distro and as a label, only because it would be a personal satisfaction, as I'm very ambitious.

7- Fear Of God or Napalm Death? 7 M.O.N. or Deche-Charge? CBT or Gut?

***Compost- Frigoverre demo cd-r, self released
Hailing from Rome, here's the demo of Compost, a goregrind trio.
The demo consists of 8 tracks, some titles are pathologic, some others are about fun like "Bong" or "We are veget-arians"
The sound of this demo is really good if you consider it's a demo, nice studio recording and clear sounds. The vocals are most of the times piggy, reminding of the style of some brutal death bands, the only time pitch shifter is used is in the short songs "Bong" and "Uaui". Guitars and bass create a good souding filth, but sometimes, in my opinion, the riffs are a bit too "metal" and this create a strange sound, imagine to have Gut sounding guitars but with metal riffs (the clearest example is the song "Syphilistic suffering"). Drums mainly focuses on mid tempos but blasts are part of the songs too, the drumming kinda reminds me of some CBT tempos.
Best songs are "Intercooler", "Ergotism" and "Uaui", but also the rock n roll vibe of the intro of "We are veget-arians" is enjoyable.
Considering that this is a demo it's a good release, the only things I suggest are:
-Piggy vocals are sometimes boring if used for a long time, so try to insert some variations
-Some riffs are too metal and weak for the genre, so try to make more powerful ones next time!!

***2 Minuta Dreka- Let's start a porn in the name of gore cd, Half Life recs.
This is the first full lenght of the italian answer to Gut, 21 tracks with 5 covers, 2 from Meat Shits (Hermaphrodite nightmare & Regurgitated semen), 1 from Haemorrhage (I'm a pathologist), 1 from Fear Of God (2 sides of the coin) and one from Gut (Perpetual sperm injection).
Lot of intros from various films too, from Troma films to Clerks, to random porn samples.
Titles are like Blood Bukkake, Semen Demon, Headcrashed Blowjob and some are in Italian too.
The music is a lethal mix of blasting parts with tupa-tupa and mid tempos, and some songs are pure noisecore since they last like 4 seconds.
The voice is always shifted and sometimes it has some well done parts with high vocals too, the guitars are powerful and the riffs are a bit metalish reminding of some of the primitive bands like Impetigo. The positive thing in my opinion are the drums, that are more focused on blasting parts than mid tempos, even if slow parts are not missing, think of a Gut bit a little bit fastened and raw and you got the 2 Minuta Dreka sound, and this is also because of the solid guitar work.
The only thing that could be annoying are the intros, sometimes longer than the song itself, but if you like Impetigo, you won't bother about it.
Well, in my opinion this release is a solid one, and it's worth buying if you are a porno/gore freak, because it's one of the few non cyber bands in the "scene" and it doesn't sound like lego adverts.
If you like spending your money on the new Gut's bullcrap go on, but if you were disapponted check this out.

1- Hey guys! How's life?

We have a hurricane coming right at us while i'm answering this interrogation so other than that things are ok.

2- Introduce us to Hypo Christians, how long have you been playing? How many records you have so far? I heard the tracks on myspace from the upcoming album and i really liked them, they remind me a bit of Bile and some goregrind bands, when will it come out? Who will release it? What are the next plans after "Terror during prayer"?

HC was formed by Francisco(me) and Ray back in 94. From 95 to 2004 I was the only member of the band. I released lots of tapes, split tapes, compilations, etc. In 2005 Sal(vocals), Ruben(bass), and Billy(guitar) joined. This line up has recorded two 7inches and 1 LP. DOn't know who the hell Bile is. Goregrind? hahaha!! OUr LP will be out hopefully by year's end. CD version will be released by Menace to SObriety . LP version will be released by Haunted Hotel Records. More recordings to come.

3- How you first discovered grindcore and extreme music? What are your favourite bands? Top 5 grindcore albums?Do you think that grindcore nowadays is dead?

I got into extreme grindcore back in the late 80's by reading about bands in magazines and also from friends. I hate top 5 questions but probably my all time favorite grindcore album is "Reek of Putrefaction". I don't keep up with many bands these days. I hear all kinds of bands calling themselves grindcore but doesn't sound like grindcore to me. There is one band that is somewhat newer that i really enjoy. It is PLF from Houston, TX. Other than that i don't give a shit.

4- I was always amazed by the amazing drawings by Ray, they remind me of Pushead's work, what other artists influence your drawings?

Ray rules! He and i have been friends for 20 years or so and ever since i have know him he has been able to draw sick fucking artwork. He is definitely influenced by Pushead but that's definitely a good thing. OUr Lp cover was drawn by our friend Robert Mena. This is one sick individual. I'm pretty sure these are the only two artists that I will ever ask to do artwork for HC.

5- What about gigs in the USA? Do you play a lot of gigs there? What bands would you like to play with?

We've played some shows. NOt too many. I don't have any preference as to who I'd like to play with but we've played with some cool bands like Lethal Aggression, Insecticide, Deceased, Endless Demise, PLF, and others.

6- Where does your hate from Christianity comes from? Do you think the Vatican should be nuked?

If you grow up in Texas christianity is forced on you from birth. Never cared for someone trying to tell me how to live my life. I don't care for any religion but since christianity is what is around me then naturally that's what i tend to write about. Nuking would be too easy on the people inside. Just throw everyone in, chain up the doors and burn the fucker to the ground.

7- What are your hobbies behind music and sodomizing nuns?

Spending time with my family is all i do besides music.

Thanx and people need to buy vinyl. I love vinyl and hope it never goes away. Also, all you dumbasses who have these "myspace" bands need to quit it. Put out an actual release. hell, write some songs atleast. On second thought, don't write anything and GO AWAY!!

***Final Exit- Seasons are going and going...and lives goes on mcd 3'', Rage For All records
Since I first get this piece of Noisecore in my hands I was amazed by the cool and small digipack!!
It's a 3'' mcd with 3'' digipack artwork, with pics of different seasons in it.
There are 12 songs on it, every one named with a name of a month and 2 months actually are (bits of) covers from other bands: one is an Iron Maiden's Ace's high and the other is Be my baby by Complex.
What has always amazed me, and it's part of FxEx's genius, is the ability to play different kinds of music in the same song.
Here we have 12 tracks of pure musical schizophrenia, we have metal, surf, pop riffs always interrupted by the great wall of noisecore they're able to create with their instruments and drumming.
The song "May" starts with a melodic piece that could have been written by The Cure itself (it reminds me "Boys Don't Cry"), and the song "Be my baby" has some clean sang parts too, while "February" starts with a peaceful guitar arpeggio, and then it has a slow part reminding me of "Steppin' stone" by the Monkees, and it totally fits with the concept that every month is different, as every song on this recording!
The recording has a clean sound too, and even when they start to make noise the sound is not too weak, so, in my opinion it's perfect.
If you ask me Final Exit are in my top noisecore bands, if you don't know them you'd better check them out, or else you're missing one of the best bands around, they never sound boring to my ears.

Been busy working in the last months, so i could raise some money to go on holiday...
Thanks to my friends from Gustorana! zine I was able to go to Obscene Extreme, it was such fun, loads of grind freaks there, really good bands (Mesrine, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Gonorrhea Pussy, Extreme Noise Terror, Macabre), awesome distros and good cheap beer!!!
Lately I've also been listening to a lot of different music, mainly Thrash/Death metal old school bands such as Sacrifice, Sacrilege, Slaughter, Possessed, Cynic, Obliveon, Death, and a bit of first wave of black metal bands too (Hellhammer, Bathory,Venom,Celtic Frost)...

This album is pure schizophrenia! 9 tracks of crazy drum machine madness!
The songs are short but really intense, in fact in every song there's a really strange mixture of fast drum computer, synth effects, and sometimes some piano notes, it's really strange but if you like experimentation, this one is one worth listening, in my opinion.
The songs consist of drums blast mixed with strange synth effects, sometimes also piano and guitar lines.
This album it's like an alien punch in the guts, really intense, fast and crazy.
No voices here, so everything's instrumental, which is a good choice, because in this case the vocals would have been boring
The only thing I think it's a bit "overused" it's the intro of the first track that is repeated at the begginning and at the end of every song.
I can't think of similar bands to it, the sound of some synths remind me some Locust, the drums are kind of an Agoraphobic Nosebleed album but expect something different as regards the whole sound.

DH, for those who don't know them, were ultra fast drum-machine goregrind with pitch shifted gurgrling vocals. The main subject of the band was gore/pathology

1-Hey Kyle, how's going? What are you doing now that DH is not active anymore?

Cheers! I've been busy working labor jobs and not doing much else. You know, "life goes on". 2007 was a miserable year of nothing but low-paid grueling work especially. Only music got me through it all.

2-How you first got into extreme music? What was your first band? What was your first thought when you listened to goregrind?

I can never really remember where my interest first started. I started out liking the simplicity of punk and hard rock, and naturally gravitated more towards the heavier bludgeon of hardcore and metal. College radio broadcasts and music/guitar magazines were most essential growing up. I heard stuff like MORBID ANGEL, ENEMY SOIL, NAPALM DEATH, A.C., and BRUTAL TRUTH through local radio and there was no way back after that. My first band was some nameless group with local buddies, and we played some kind of "alternative rock" train wreck. The drummer liked some metal and I tried getting him into more extreme stuff to no avail, and eventually it fell apart. Never played in any bands with a full line-up since then. The first goregrind song I heard was probably "Psychopathologist", and I needed to hear more like it right away.

3-Speaking about DH now, how long have you been active? Why you started to do it and what were your main influences? What were the bands, when you were active, that you admired more?

DH was active for about 5 years ('99 to '04). The impetus for the project mostly came out of a frenzy to hear more grind/gore material since I didn't have a great deal of money to spend at the time on cds and vinyl. So I had to do it all for myself and by myself. Main influences were not too surprising: CARCASS, ND, RGTE, ANAL CUNT (in the earlier years), AGx, EXTREME NOISE TERROR, etc. That list grew, of course. I ripped off more bands' riffs that I can even count.

4-Was your music influenced by horror flicks? Were them important for your "inspiration" when you wrote songs? If yes, what are your favourites movies?

There were a few titles obviously influenced by movies, but even more influence came from true crime, pathology, and the atmosphere of older gore bands' content, needless to say. I still love horror but I'm more into 70's action and crime movies these days. Recently I've been into film noir like THE BIG HEAT, M, and THE KILLERS. There's a real lasting brutality and grittiness to that stuff that I'm a sucker for. My favorite movies are still TAXI DRIVER and the original DAWN OF THE DEAD and I'd be surprised if this ever changed. And there's always room for pure sleaze like PATRICK STILL LIVES, HITCH-HIKE, or DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE...

5-How about today's "gore scene"? I heard a lot of complaints about the so called "Myspace scene", what do you think of it? How was the "scene" compared to now when you were still doing sick goregrind? What do you think of all these bands hating "fags"?

I've been searching up and down, but there just isn't much goregrind today that gives me that old "rush". Everyone wants to call their bands goregrind but there's such a rarity in those who actually play it. The focus on just "speed" or "brutality" these days is making things boring. On the bright side, I think INTUMESCENCE is incredible. Their style is absolutely perfect. MAGGUT, AUTOPHAGIA, BLUE HOLOCAUST, BODIES LAY BROKEN, LYMPHATIC PHLEGM, and N.V.E. all did annihilating albums as well. Around the time the scene became almost strictly based around computers and internet, there was a bit of a decline in my opinion. I do understand why Myspace is popular; because it's free, simple, and easy to access - much preferable to a primitive Geocities or cjb page with pop-up ads, download limits, and redirects. However, the whole clusterfuck of promotion, the "trading card" friend system, and endless parade of poseurdom is impossible to tolerate. I haven't been up on what the new anti-PC or PC trends are, but I'm sure they're still pathetic and hypocritical as usual.

6-Do you like different music other than grindcore/noisecore/goregrind?

Absolutely! Everything from speed metal to disco. One of my favorite bands of all time is still UNSANE. Still one of the most punishing and focused bands ever in my opinion. And anyone close to me knows that I've been a real fanatic over all sorts of obscure 80's synth stuff for many years. On the more brutal side, I listen to a regular diet of primitive black/death metal and early power-electronics / industrial.

7-I heard you were involved in other projects such as Septic Scum, would you like to tell us about it? It was the only one you had or you had others? You had any pre-DH bands? Will the future brings us surprises? Are you planning to start doing music again?

SEPTIC SCUM was basically an experiment in "triplet" blasts. More influenced by HERESY and other UKHC, although it didn't sound at all like it. There was only SS material for the one 4-way split cd-r on No Life Recs. I also did guest guitars on a couple of RAPIST WITH NO PENIS and MERMAID IN A MANHOLE releases. DH was my first musical outlet, period. I decided last year to finally retire the DH name (as I hated the name for many years), but many treats are on the way from beyond the grave...Perhaps I've said too much. As for the possibility of new music, my mission certainly isn't over yet. I never got the chance to do a vinyl or cd release with DH and that's still a goal of mine with future projects. An even bigger goal would be a full or split LP, considering the rarity of goregrind 12"s. I don't think I could name ten.

***Cripple Bastards/$ocial Genocide split 7'', A.D.P. records
This ep was recorded when Cripple Bastards were more punk/hc influenced, their side was recorded in december 1993 by A.D.P, an italian label.
I feel like i had to review this because Cripple Bastards were the first grind band i listened and they made me discover the italian hc bands of the 80s like Wretched and Negazione, so i had to write at least a review of their works.
As they say on the A4 inlay enclosed on the vinyl they play fast and raging punk/hardcore, not grindcore.
6 pieces of raw and fast hardcore, with 2 covers. One is Isto è olho seco by Olho Seco from Brazil and the other, which is the last track is Huutoja by Varaus, one of the many punk/hc bands that were active in Finland in the 80s. The other tracks were composed by Giulio & CB and they have socio-political lyrics.
There's also a short (5 seconds) song about punks from Asti, and there's a commentary about fashion and protesting in the inlay.
The songs are recorded pretty well, but the drums blast and the voice cover the guitar and bass, that are almost unhearable. The guitar sound is really cool, distorted and raw, it reminds me of a dentist drill. Bass is not much distorted, but it fits with the style of their songs.
If you like old school hardcore and punkish stuff you will love this recording.
On the other side there's $ocial Genocide from Austria.
$ocial Genocide plays crust a là Doom, the lyrics themes are the typicals of the crust genre, anti war, nuclear, patriotism etc.
The recording is not bad, the drums are a bit low but not that much. The sound as i said previously is not that different from that fast and raw mix played by Doom, but they play it in a good way so if you like that style you'll like it.
Unfortunately the only way to get it nowadays is via Ebay or, if you're lucky enough, via trading.

Here are 3 old reviews i wrote some months ago, enjoy and let me know what you think!

***Netjajev SS- Surfside anthems vol.1 7'', Reprocreate recs.
Netjajev Society System is the "new" Magnus' Ulcerrhoea solo project.
This vinyl is the first of a Surfside anthems trilogy and it contains 8 blasts of surfing fastcore.
Think of a raw mixture of Rupture, Dead Kennedys and Dick Dale (!!!), so it can be called raw punkish stuff meeting surf vibes, sometimes becoming really fast.
Side A is all instrumental and songs are mainly slow surfing hits that makes you feel like if you're in california on your fave beach with your surfboard
while side B has faster songs with lyrics too, there's less surf vibe and more raw punk on this side.
Best songs to me are "I, King of the surf", "Worldwide Surfside" (the guitar parts really remind me of DK) and the really short "Yummie Yummie Yummie" (only 28 seconds long).
This vinyl in my opinion is worth gold, not because it's limited (only 300 copies made) but because it's fuckin original, it's not the stuff you hear from every band!!!
Get this now, don't wait a fukin second!!!

***Deche Charge/Permanent Death split 7'', Mortville recs.
No need for introduction for Deche-Charge, in this vinyl they have 120 tracks of intense old school noisecore recorded on a 2 tracks in 1998 by Dan-Charge and Chainsaw, no guitars, just drums and bass.
Songs are short and raw, drums and vocals are louder than bass distortion but they're noisy enough to make this side a great piece of earbleeding muzik!!!After this you feel like you've been hit by a running train!!
Titles are mostly funny and they're usually screamed before the songs start to blast. If you love them you can't miss this great 7''!!
As regards Permanent Death these 3 guys are Belgian beerfreaks that fill this side with some raw and lo-fi noisecore, not for trendy ears!!!
Everything is hyper distorted and low tuned, it seems that it has been recorded without guitars, but i'm not sure.
Some tracks were recorded with a drum machine too (i'm not sure since there's nothing written on the inlay), but the sound is always raw and downtuned.
Permanent Death is not for trendy ears used to polished sounds, since the sound is really lo-fi and i would say muddy, it makes me feel like if i was trapped in a swamp while listening to it!!
A positive note goes to Deche-Charge's artwork that is a Confuse's- Nuclear adicts rip off, good choice!!!
This vinyl was limited to 300 copies and there are 9 different colours. Sadly, this was last Mortville's vinyl release ever.

***Death Sentence/Chtufulw split 7'', Give Praise recs.
Death Sentence is fucking great, if you like hardcore as it was meant to be done (not the new school metalcore emo fashion shit) you can't miss this record!!
They blasts 5 tracks of intense and fast old school hardcore with intelligent lyrics, songs like "Negative attitude" or "Anti Apartheid", some taken from the unreleased mini LP "51st state of America" and some from "If pain mends my mind" LP released in 1986
The sound is aggressive and fast, the recording is not polished and the you got the feeling of being in the 80s while listening to it, for sure a great piece of hardcore rage!!!
This is an official release and not a bootleg, as stated clearly in the inlay notes.
Chutwulf is a 3 piece from California, they play fast and ultra distorted chaotic hardcore, think of japanese noisecore mixed with swedish/finnish influences
Japanese noisecore influences are the first thing that comes in my mind since the guitar sound is really distorted and reminds me of Confuse, Tranquilizer and such bands, while drumming is fast and the voice is similar to Crossed Out.
They say they have loads of influences, from grind to japcore, in fact one of the songs in this vinyl is a cover of "Squatter Riot" by 7 M.O.N., lyrics are more personal than socio-political.
I don't know how many copies were pressed, mine is on white vinyl, so move your ass and get this awesome ep or suffer!!!

I opened this blog with the intent to share my passion for extreme musick
I'll publish some reviews, and everything else i think would be interesting to read and listen to...
